This in from the Fasttrax website:

Official Un-official Rumors
« on: July 06, 2008, 11:31:49 AM »

Fact:

* the track is being sold, still pending
* they have conducted EPA testing, paperwork is nearly done
* the ownership should transfer by August
* the entire track will be repaved, possible new layout but similar to old
* all structures will be torn down and rebuilt including the bridge
* the track will be widened and extended over 2 miles
* tire walls will be either moved back or replaced with newer safety barriers
* it will be a "country club" type facility similar to Autobahn
* construction will begin in September, sorry no October round
* track should re-open by June, our schedule will be similar to this year's, Putnam in March/April and round 2 back at Nelson in June
* I am trying to get us a last round at Putnam for this year
* I am trying to get us another track to race at as well for next year
* track management has assured me they will help accommodate us as much as possible to maintain our schedule for next year
* track fees will double, however the facilities will be better than Mid-Ohio, hopefully we will have a better turn out so I wont have to raise our fees
* all of this information is pending the sale, so let's just wait and see, I will keep you updated

The layout is superb, hope they don't change it too much. Just a guess but they may decide to slow it down a bit; it's extremely fast and run off room is at a premium. Really nice to see someone get it with capital that will repave/widen and bring it up to modern standards. I can't wait till next summer!

I cut my teeth on that track back in the late 70's through '86, It's got a rich history. I also worked for Bob as an instructor, and still help out with the Fasttrax 'family' once in a while. Great group.

I just rode there for the first time two weeks ago for the WERA round. I loved the layout. Its fast and fun if a little bumpy, but those tire barriers are scary close - even for a slowpoke like me.
