Ken Coolbeth in his native New England kick started historic Laconia Motorcycle Week with double wins at the Rochester half-mile dirt track.

The defending AMA champion of two divisions rode his Harley-Davidson to a win.

The Laconia, New Hampshire rally has deep roots in racing and is considered the oldest rally in the country. The Loudon Classic is the longest running race in the U.S. Where as the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb is in its 86th running, this year marks the 85th year for the Laconia rally that draws 300,000 to 400,000 motorcyclists.

New England Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Dealers Association sponsors the annual dirt-track races, which this year included the 16th Annual Ben Campanale Laconia 1/2 mile on Friday, June 13th in Rochester, followed by a short track race at Jolly Rogers on Saturday night and another short track race in Canaan on Sunday to round out the first weekend of Laconia Motorcycle Week.
