Spiller with the 1125( a really FAST racer) did not finish the race because a brake line failed.. another FREESPIRITS bike a xb12r 88" got an honorable place and completed the race. there was an S1 also very nice next round in Misano near my place. bye Alessio

The Free Spirits team suffered a bit of a nightmare weekend at Magione unfortunately. I have not had a full race report from Marcello yet, but it appears that the 1125R finished a creditable 5th in race one but crashed (due to the brake line failure I assume) without injury to Stefano the rider in the second race. He was classified as finishing in 11th place. Claudio's S1 suffered some cylinder problems and DNF'd. One XB had some electrical/TPS problems and the other one caught fire. To cap it all, Marcello (Free Spirits boss) damaged a tendon in his arm on his return from the races when lifting a bike, and is spending this week in hospital for urgent operations. He will be home on Friday but will be in plaster for a couple of months. He does assure us though that this won't stop his racing or the development of some nice new parts he has in the pipeline The team will be back in action on 15th June at Misano. For more pictures of and details of the Italian Supertwins series go to www.supertwins.it It is of course in Italian, but take a look at the gallery, there are some very exotic bikes in this series and it is littered with Bimota DB5's, NCR Ducati, Vyrus and some very nice Ducati Hybrids (as well as the Buells of course). Hopefully this will get all of their bad luck out of the way in one fell swoop, and the rest of the year will be a great success. We wish Marcello a speedy recovery. |

"(due to the brake line failure I assume)" My reading is that he crashed in a high speed corner and was then unable to continue due to a broken brake line. |

Stefano Spiller crashed in a low speed corner on saturday , a really bad crash , we had an heart attack when we saw the ambulance taking him. sunday he did'nt crashed due to the brake line fail just went out (this is what i saw), i told you very fast racer who takes some risks(i like his style). the s1 front cyl. lost his nikasyl plating. i don't know why Claudio's xb caught fire ,but the other xb the Roberto's one was perfect there are not tps or electrical problems the only problem for me is that they insists to use tfi module and the o2 sensor connected. when i meet them i did for Marco ,B&D MOTOR a FREESPIRITS associated and Team's mechanic , a copy of my ecmspy and i showed him the software....very difficult to make them change their mind on this....anyway those people are making really nice fast and strong bikes . Roberto's xb engine raced the last season and is still racing this year with no failures not bad for this kind of motors. i have no time to make the license for the 15 june in Misano but i hope in September or October the last race will be in Misano again ...if so maybe ....MAYBE...another xb 88 with Marcello's team do you know which one ??? next week i will be in Misano for another test , right now my lap-time considering last year season lap-times permit me to classify for the race . i really hope so. Misano circuit is really ...the best one for bikes bye Alessio |
