Come out to WIllow Springs on Sunday May 18th. Bartels Shawn Higbee Vs. Jeff "Slipp" Dixon.
$10 bucks to get you in, plus Glendale will be providing BBQ lunch in our VIP pit row tent.
Come ride with fellow race enthusiasts. We're all meeting at the dealership for a quick breakfast, and depart at 10:30am for the track. We're taking the scenic route to Willow Springs. This is not a dealer organized ride.
Hope to see you there.

Yeah youse guys!

This is gonna be some kinda fun! That Glendale XBRR is running STRONG - will be an interesting race: the XBRR v. the 1125R, Bartels v. Glendale, Higbee v. Dixon.

Rumor has it that Glendale is going to be making some sandwiches available in the pits again.

See you out there!!!!!!!!!!

I can't reveal any numbers but last night was the FIRST TIME we FINALLY got sniffer in front and rear exhaust so we could read each tube separately. FINALLY could tune the bike. Prior to last night, we were just guessing.

There's gonna be serious racing Sunday. Come out to watch the setup tomorrow with Higbee (rumors of chain and suspension upgrades)

Well - it's OFF TO THE RACES!

Just talked to Higbee - that D&D pipe won't work because of ground clearance when turned over so he's going to run the stock pipes again this weekend. Got all the other changes done yesterday - chain and suspension.

Could be fun this weekend.

The Glendale RR has the new front end and a sweeeet dyno-tune.

Yep - gonna be fun

Gotta run.

My money's on Higbee! He could be on a blast and I'd still bet on him at the finish line. Good luck to both.

Steve, only a month and a half to the 25th-can't wait to meet you and the guys.
See ya,

It's gonna be really interesting.

Dixon's XBRR is pretty dialled in. HE went out 2 sessions and really didn't need to make any changes.

Today was FARCKING HOT. 112 degrees.

The bike was pushing the temperature a bit and tires were falling off but the Dunlops seem to be working better for both 1125R and the XBRR.

More later... gotta go run and pick up a spare generator. Tomorrow changing brake pads and trying tire/wheel changes

Yeah - Weather.com said hi-90's but T1 safety showed me his hand-held wind/temp reading - that was 112... and that's pretty believable

Bringing my IR temp reader for tire, track and engine temps

Tomorrow's gonna be interesting

Unconfirmed, but I heard that Higbee took both of his races with about six seconds to second. I met him at the track yesterday and he's a really nice guy. I don't know how Dixon did, but he and the XBRR looked good on the track yesterday. And it's real easy to tell which bike is the XBRR when it goes by even if you have your eyes closed!

Early morning have to leave for work - Alans took some pics that he'll be re-sizing.

Bottom line? Higbee dominated the Heavyweight Twins class against the Ducks - 999, 1098 (Kenny Kopecky and Eric Nolan) and in the Formula Twins race, it was Higbee, Nolan, Dixon for the podium.

Even though Dixon and Nolan have the advantage of recent Willow experience, it does appear that the 1125R is coming into its own as a very capable track weapon.

More info soon. Day job ... have to leave.

I have some pictures I'll try to post tonight. Fun, but long day at the track. Good thing the Budweiser Balcony was open for service yesterday.

Higbee and the 1125R had the starts wired. By the first turn he would have seven bikes on everyone, and that was that.

It's great to see Shawn out winning races again. I cannot imagine that this will be bad for the 1125R's reputation.

Way to go Shawn Higbee and Jeff (Slipp) Dixon!

It was a great day!
Some of us started at Glendale at 10 for coffee and donuts. We did a group ride from there to Willow on canyons and backroads led by Glendale's GM.

11 Buellers and one bagger - all told (that bagger dude could really ride!). Glendale had set up hospitality for all of us with drinks and burgers and dogs. All the water and the eazy-up came in handy on this scorcher day!

My sincere thanks to Glendale for extending us customers their hospitality and spreading the enthusiasm!

I really had a great day hanging with many fellow Buellers and fine folks at Glendale and Bartels!

There were enough of us to actually make turn 1 stand look populated - and I think that's a first.

Hopefully Alans can chime in here with pics.

I just can't wait until next month.

Not much time to post after lunch here at work on Monday.

Briefly: killer heat!!! 112-113 degrees measured on Saturday. 103 in the shade on Sunday. The heat dramatically influenced tire selection and how we handled engine and fuel cooling.

Dixon on Saturday was moving really well, the XB was thoroughly sorted and so rather than burning up the bike, they packed it in before the real heat of the day a few hours later.

Higbee kept at it through the hottest time of the day and it really influenced the tire selection for Sunday (harder compound) and how the pre-heat and pre-cooling would be handled.

Dixon may have missed a chance because he didn't practice during the extremely hot time of day on Saturday. I can't say what tires he was running but if he was running the tires that he ran in practice on Saturday, he was probably pretty far off on traction.

His times seemed to indicate slower than normal times - and having tires a little "off" might have affected him more than they had thought on Saturday. He was down about 2 seconds a lap from earlier races. Everybody was off a second or so in the heat but it did seem to slow Dixon down a bit more.

I really have mixed emotions - YAY!! - a Buell won... but you could see the disappointment in Glendale/Dixon's pits.

These are only personal observations and guesses. Dixon DID finish a respectable THIRD - but it had to have been disappointing to him.

Well, my pictures are going to be awhile until I can figure out how to down size the insanely large pictures I took with my new Pentax K20D yesterday. If anybody knows of a good program for the Mac let me know.

Forgot to post that if you wanted to get some analysis in AFTER the race day you can get the UNOFFICIAL times at the AMB transponder website: http://www.mylaps.com

Enter "willow springs" in the search box and then select the event/date. You can then go to the specific race or practice that you are interested in. Keep in mind, these results are uploaded to Mylaps by Willow Springs at the end of the day, you can't get "live" timing. For that, there's another program available for free that you can download from the Willow Springs Raceway site that allows you to get the lap times, position/place data which is updated each and every time a vehicle crosses start/finish. A very useful tool for endurance racing out there on the wireless net!

Nice one Bert!

That was early on in the race, Higbee is "only" about 2 seconds in the lead there in front of Eric Nolan (1098R) being chased by Dixon.

Another thing if you are curious about laptimes, you can click on the riders name in the particular race and get their lap-by-lap times. Pretty instructional.

Formula Twins: Buell money at stake
http://mylaps.com/results/newLapchart.jsp?id=81119 3

BOTT Heavyweight: Buell, Glendale and for the ducks, there was Ducati money at stake
http://mylaps.com/results/newResults.jsp?id=811188

Interesting to note - Kenny Kopecky holds the lap record for the BOTT Heavyweight class on his Ducati Corse-prepped 999R. Now he's on a more mildly tuned 999R.

Eric Nolan is on the 1098
