We recently delivered a 120hp injected X1 at 88" ...  ... but I'd stop short of calling that a limit. That was a fairly mild motor, it used SE .536 cams for example. You're gonna get me in trouble with the topic police, y'know  | ||

Just ordered a brand new Derbi GPR 50 racing replica with assorted hotrod parts for my son for a shot at the Aprilia held 50cc Production record.Buell is at Banke Engineering getting exhaust system rerouted to avoid bodywork.And my 650 turbo Yamaha looks like it may be ready for september,also.And have nice new Ford F-250 to haul all the bikes.OhboyOhboyOhboy!!!! Any more word on rule change back to 2002 for A class bikes? | ||

Aaron Mate, I took off the international gearing and fitted the U.S. gearing to allow the motor to rev more at our 60mph road speed limit, the motor felt happier after this conversion.So I have these pulley's sitting around gathering dust.If they are what you need ,let me know.I can send them with the cook(Paul) or send them direct. | ||

Hopefully,not much as James Banke is one of our American Sport BikeN group and a generally nice fellow. And it really was not alot of work.I had already cut most of the sections,just needed some fitting and welding.Hopefully done next week.I will let you know. | ||

Welding skills are fair,(Welded up a pretty fair set of headers for a V-8 in an old Courier when we were told it could not be done)only have no access to a machine to weld stainless.Jim Banke happened to spring to mind after I could not find anyone in my area to touch it.And he is a little closer than you.Hell I was gonna throw it in the truck and head up to see Bob and Deb Gussenhoven in Wash as Bob is a stainless artist. | ||

We ran at Maxton this last weekend and came away with mixed results but a positive outlook. My race "Whiplash" is a group effort and racing by comittee is always difficult. We have made some significant changes/improvements in our chassis and spent a large amount of time and effort of the seating position before our first run. We were rewarded with a very smooth stable machine and the 100 inch motor was pulling strong. We were running in APS/BPG 2000 (I think) and beat the exsisting record held by Carl's Speedshop by 5 mph. We made some further adjustments and headed out to make another run but on the road out to the start area we developed some problems. It appears we dropped a valve thus ending our weekend. Despite this easily overcome setback, I am very happy with our performance and the progress we made with our effort. I am very confident we will be posting some big #'s at Bonneville. On the Buell front,... Paul Bates continues to improve his tube frame racer. It is streched and slammed, low and mean. He has done a lot of work on it and his home made pieces are quality items. He mounted a rear gas tank under a fiberglass seat and he was running 157mph Sat afternoon nekkid. Congrats Paul (he's in here somewhere) http://www.battsracing.com/ | ||

Court,what type of handheld radios do we need to monitor at Bonneville?I have some Motorola 14 channel walkie talkies from dirt riding--they work?Thanks. | ||

Jim: Team Elves will have 2-way Radios that we will issue anyone who wants/needs them. We will have a GR400 40W UHF repeater (hey, we don't need 100 mile range, but it can't hurt). that will allow your chase vehicle to remain in constant contact with the pits, Elf Control and the starting line. We have a dozen Motorola Walkie Talkies with Public Service Mics and 3 with Voice Activated Headsets. I also have a supply of 40W GM300 UHF with cigarette lighter plugs and mag mount 1/4 wave antenna. I'm using a common GMRS frequency tht, if needed, you can monitor from a small family type radio. We'll be in good shape. In addition, it's not a bad idea to have a CB radio in your truck to monitor Channel 1 (the Bonneville ops channel). We have 4 portable CB's for use if you need one. I pick them up off the Uniden reconditioned system. | ||

Dropping in just to say Hi to the Buelligan gang...I look forward to seeing you all again at Bonneville in Sept. We are gonna run our lil ole 883 Hugger again in 1000 cc Production & hope to take that 1000 MPG record to boot...maybe some others. The race bike has been ready since the end of May setting some new records at Maxton & getting back our 1000 cc Production record from the Moto Guzzi team. Jim S....wish I could have gone at the end of June but have to take care of Dad for about 3 weeks yet. You know, having young kids is better than taking care of an elder...they are limited in everything...one of us, me or the wife, have to be here all the time at the house with Dad right now. Any of you LSR gurus have an opinion on how much to extend the rear swing arm for a LSR type bike? 2" (drag racing?) 4" to 6" We are ready to send the rear arm to Nillin racing and need some input prior to making a mistake. What was it that Mikey P says "Measure Once, cut three times?" Or something like that. Thanks | ||

Are you going to LSR it? Because the 04 rules will be, under 68 inch wheelbase, it goes in the modified class; over 68 inches and it goes in the altered class (seat must be at or below the top of rear wheel). | ||

Altered class rules have been rolled back to last years rules as there were too many bikes without a class to run in now.BUT,if you enter altered class you can not then go to modified or vice versa. Ask Aaron how much they extended the swingarm on last years bike???? | ||

The 68" rule will probably apply at ECTA next year also...being they have been using the B-Ville rulebook pretty much per se. I don't know..maybe you have heard different already..in that case disregard...but think about what class you want your bike in before setting up the swingarm for overall length....IMO.....stock wheelbase works just fine...but if you want to get in Altered class...a little lengthening is needed when positioning the riders footpegs 6" from rear axle. |
