I'm trying to get in touch their membership folks and can't seem to get a response. I applied for my novice race license a month ago and they've cashed my check, but won't get back to me on whether or not I'm approved. Normally I'm not this impatient but my bike is sitting at Hoban's waiting on a dyno tune and I need to show the license to get the race ecm from Buell. They haven't returned my calls or email. Any suggestions? Is there a forum where the AHRMA folks hang out?

Try the contacts on the link below.

Their Western region is run by different folks so doubt I could help you.

http://ahrma.org/rulebook/sec17.htm

There is a bit list of contacts. I see that Thad Wolff is listed for Vintage superbike, I'll see him tomorrow at Willow Springs but you could shoot most of those folks an email or call to see if they can help you as an individual... might work

There was a change of management a while back and their forum died.

Stupid Question: Does AHRMA offer a New Racer School licensing program and have you completed their new racer school? You are usually handed your temporary racing license at the end of the day of New Racing School.

I have to assume that like all other organizations, they have a full day of track sessions and training. If not, they DO accept racers with licenses from other organizations .

I just don't know if they even offer a new racer school. Quote from their application:

quote:

Note: Before AHRMA issues a racing number, Proof MUST be provided that shows within the past 2 years you have competed with another road racing organization or successfully completed a roadracing school (proof = copy of racing license or school certificate). A temporary membership will be issued until proof is received in membership office.

The guys here who race AHRMA already had their racing licenses through WSMC, AFM and CCS and WERA - so they just got their AHRMA licenses by applying.

You DO need to take a racing school from an organization that offers one if AHRMA doesn't offer a New Racer School at their events.

In the organizations I've run with, new racer school is given on Friday with practice on Saturday and racing on Sunday.

There is no race organization that gives a racing license without on-track schooling.

I took Keith Code's class last August so I'm assuming that certificate should be enough. Keith said his class was accepted at WERA and CCS, he wasn't sure about AHRMA. Do WERA and CCS require a class like that PLUS the Friday new racer school? If so, it sounds like I may be out of luck with AHRMA.

If you have taken Code's racing class you should be good to go. I'd still hammer AHRMA to see if you can get "human contact."

AHRMA has a great BOTT series that Buells fit into nicely

WERA and CCS don't require you take another new racer school if you are already licensed in another race organization. I would assume they would allow a current Keith Code certificate.

WERA and CCS DO have functioning BBS/Forums. Too bad that WERA doesn't have theirs online yet.
