Where did you get your wheelie bar adapter set-up,the bracket I see on the swingarm to attach bar??This is for the steel swingarm. Or does someone have some I can buy or borrow to copy (Message edited by firemanjim on October 31, 2007) | ||

I would call Pingel the only thing they advertise now is for XB's but I'm shure they made them for Tubers in the past. | ||

i have a pingel on my tuber but, the bracket they come with wont work on the later swingarm, only the earlier 'standard' swingarm. what i had to do was weld mounting points to the frame and swingarm if you'll email me ill sent you pics gowens@ideacomnc.com | ||

ps - two of the brackets came form pingel, the other two had to be made, just copies of the ones from pingel, not a big deal | ||

For all of you using Pingel bars, I saw they came with some alum isolator bushings?? Anyone got some I can copy as Pingel no longer sells parts for the tube frames? | ||

RT, what on earth were you doing with wheelie bar parts??? P.S. drag race season over til march IIRC. Bike is going to doa track day at Laguna before pulling 1/4 mile duty so I got a bit of time---  | ||

Firemanjim there is a lot to tell you about setup for running bars and 2 step for launch rpm , bar set up is ez . statt with the front tire on a 2x4 broad and have the wheelie bar just touching the ground. when adj the wheelie bar make sure you put a level on the rear wheel brake roater and one on the cross bar on the wheelie bar, this will make sure that the bar is prefect for the bike. tire pressure is up to what trie you are running and track prep. Slick tire like an Mickey Thompson I would start with 10psig, street tire I would start with 15pisg but rider weight and track prep is what makes this call. Launch rpm is what type of clutch use are using. I need more info. Daryl | ||

Thanks,Daryl. I am running sticky street tire,Dunlop Sportmax GP,I am about 185 in gear,will be running bike stock T-storm motor and clutch for now. Have 2 step,but need to install. Just want to play around at weds night drags. | ||

Jim-sorry I missed your response in November! I do have a set of those Pingel bushings, they were in an S1 roller that I got in trade for the Bonneville last summer. Do ya still need 'em? rt | ||

setting up a 2 step is not that hard if you have a friend watch your launch to see if the tire spins and look at 60' times will tell you a lot. I would start with about 4000 rpm and adj as track prep and tire pressure. your don't want the engine rpm to dropp to much and you don't want to spin the tire to much. also I would use a energy one clutch exart plate kit and a adj cluch switch. You want to put the bike on a rear wheel off ground stand and put the bike in high gear, next you want to adj the clutch switch so that it closes the same time the clutch is just starting to grab. you will need help for this. I would spin the wheel and just as the clutch would grab ,slow the back wheel down adj the switch so every thing is in sink. any more info need just pm me and I can work you through it or I can ride up to the track and help you out. | ||

power and launch rpm will determin your tire pressure. on my stock buell (no motor work anyway) with a racetec metzler and bars i run between 10-16psi and launch at 5k best thing to do is practice and see what works well for you have a buddy there to watch and get an outside perspective on your runs practice practice practice | ||

Don't drop tire pressure on "street" tires too low. The sidewall will "wind up" then unwind at launch, usually several times. You should be able to tell by the engine note moving up and down at launch. It is better to have consistent wheel spin at launch. Have fun. G. | ||

OK got out the brackets and it's obvious which side they go on but how about the up/down--there is a u-bracket arrangement that straps it to the arm and does the adjuster bolt go up or down? Also it looks like the brackets replace your adjuster plates on end of swingarm?? | ||

OK,got all the mods done,wheelie bars are on, launch box is working, got a free Force pipe and re=jetted the Mikuni, and changed from a 51 to a 54 rear. Hope I can get a decent light----  |
