The only thing that was running at full speed at the washed out Silverstone WSB round were the rumours for 2008.

Chief amongst these were:

1. Alstare Suzuki will leave WSB and run in MotoGP next year with Kevin Schwantz as team manager. It is thought likely that Shwantz will bring Ben Spies with him and the other rider would remain Max Biaggi. Apparently this is a 60% done deal and it would take an awful lot to get Alstare to stay in WSB, particularly given their opposition to the proposed 1200 rules.

2. Colin Edwards was seen conspicuously sniffing around the top teams garages. Given his poor form this year and the liklihood that Yamaha will replace him in MotoGP for 2008, WSB would seem his best option. Maybe KTM will grab him?

3. Kenny Roberts is likely to run a team in WSB next year in order to further his KR Tuning business, possibly with son Kurtis as rider (why does he persist with nepotism instead of hiring a more talented world class rider!).

4. Ducati are looking for the Airwaves British Superbike squad to move up to WSB and run as a satellite factory team with the new 1200 bikes, probably retaining the current rider lineup.

Ben Spies and Max Biaggi? Hmmmmm... well... I guess Ben's had SOME experience with Mladin as a team mate. The difference is that Mladin RESPECTS Spies, even if they don't exactly get along. Does Max respect anybody but Max?

To be honest I would not be surprised to see Biaggi axed from the team if they go to MotoGP in favour of a young up & coming rider. Biaggi has used up his quoto of friends and supporters in MotoGP unfortunately, and has pretty much burnt his boats with some of his commenst since leaving the series.

Marco Melandri has been making approaches to Suzuki for 2008 so who knows?
