Is MotoST race more like Formula USA or Formula Extreme (AMA).

http://www.moto-st.com/

V-Twin only Endurance Racing!

They will be racing for over 3 hours on the Full VIR course on Sunday Morning instead of the North Course like the AMA does. They will be sharing the weekend with the Grand AM series so you get to watch Bikes and Cars on the same day.

Jack,

"Its so sad. He lives in a nation that has lost its industrial might and doesn't make much of anything worth owning or riding"

Uncool and so very inaccurate. Rise above the nation bashing; that is exceedingly sucky. Britain ROCKS!

They have some of the leading ultra-high-tech stuff in the world. I'd tell you about some of it, but then we'd both be in serious trouble. ;)

Then again, you did close with...

You nappy-headed ho.

Britain ROCKS!

I concur. My one and only trip across the pond was back in 2000, we visited 7 countries and I was most impressed with the Britons. I like their monuments and all but frankly you've seen one monument, etc, etc. What impressed me were the people. Good stock I would say.

With that said, whenever you want pure Americana racing you just need to say USA-1 which has always meant the home town boy from Bowling Green, Kentucky, the Corvette.

http://www.corvetteracing.com/cars/c6r/c6r.shtml

The stock version C6 Corvette Z06 has humbled the likes of 911 Turbo and GT3, F430 Ferrari and even the British Lotus Exige S on the track. Oh course bringing a Lotus against a Corvette is like bringing a Firebolt against an R1. Give the Lotus a tight enough track where the Corvette can not use its power advantage and the Lotus could win.

What were we talking about?

Nothing I said was intended as anti-British. I like Britain and I detest anti-nationalistic remarks, they are shallow, pointless, and even stupid. I would never make those kind of remarks.

I was talking about motorcycles. That was, more or less, the subject here wasn't it?

I knew about most or all of the other British technical accomplishments. Good stuff and well done, I don't argue that.

And yes, I know Triumph has come back. And I wish them well. My first motorcycle was a 1958 Triumph Thunderbird.

If my post was read as anti-British, you misread my intent. Rereading it, I can see that it could be taken that way. I apologize if I hurt anyone's feelings.

With all the time Sean has spent crapping on things American here and in other threads, it just gets tiresome. That was my point.

So Sean, why don't you buy a Triumph? And start insulting them at every opportunity for whatever they are as a business and whatever you want them to be or think they should be. You could rag on them constantly for the state of their racing program and failure to produce a MotoGP bike.

I'm out of here...

Jack

Jeez Blake, my old man was a legend in his own underpants. Such a task would involve a quick 'who he was', or a very thick book, lol.

Jack, I'm astonished that a man of your integrity and maturity could point at me for your reasoning. Even worse, your excuse.

Whatever you think of my posts, I love America as a landscape. I get that in later life from all the pictures posted on BadWeB. I wish I were fortunate enough to have the time, commitment and finances to visit often. As for the American people, I've met a good handful, several I've remained close and wonderful friends with. Either through this board, or phone calls and email. Sure there are some total arseholes over there too. In fact, I think your association with a couple of them on another forum might be closer to the truth for your more recent disliking of my comments. Overall though, American people are very cool people, especially so, one to one.

Now if you were to ask me about US foreign policy, I'd say it sucks big time.

I guess that leaves cars, which America still can't build worth a shit, lol, and motorcycles. Motorcycles eh. Well Jack, my Buell has put me through a lot of shit in the nearly nine years I've owned it. Only this past two and a half years, since I finally rebuilt the S1W, have I been able to get my Buell head back to where it was when I was 38 years old and somewhat misty eyed and smitten. But since then Buell hasn't moved in certain directions I would have wished they had. Sure they're doing great things. But for me they're concentrating on Erik Buells engineering differences to keep them quaint and somewhat special, but not on a bike I wish to own. I'd say they are building for a US market that is somewhat gullible to the brand because of the push rod V twin tradition and a market not dominated by the same bikes that dominate Europe, the Far East and Australasia. That doesn't make Buell necessarily build what I would like them to. Blasts are certainly a thorn in Buells side for me. XB's are not my cup of tea, and the XBRR is a little bit of what turned out to be just that. A little bit. But you don't need me to rehash my thoughts do you. But then you don't need to state my comments are America bashing when they are not. Buell bashing? Well I prefer to call it constructive criticism. The trouble is, no one from Buell that comes here is smart enough to take my comments on board and address them. Instead they retort with smug comments and attempts at ridicule. Who's loss is that? Certainly not mine.

As for Triumph, I'd own the latest Speed Triple, no problem. But why buy that, even though many regard it as the best Streetfighter available today, when I could have a Brutale instead.

I think American foreign policy sucks big time too, but I love my country. I like the fact that I can say that on the WWW and that Blake can then say that I am being negative and divisive (I think that is how it usually goes...).

And that is what makes the country work, we can agree to disagree and not shoot each other about, usually. Although I know a few bars were one might get shot for opening ones mouth.

You think wrongly then. That comment doesn't offend me in the least, though it is undeniably true that it is a very negative comment; I don't see it as divisive.

A guy I work with had "a little car problem" and is riding his motorcycle to work till his new car arrives. . . crummy weather to ride in.

Fun part is that he didn't know I rode and is all of a sudden very "Buell Curious". . . I'm thinking putting a Buell in his parking lot, for his 450 employees to see, might be a good thing . . .

: )

Ya gotta love these motorcycles . . I've got him in the tractor beam . . anyone want a good used 2007?

The angle makes the tri-color look huge (little car). I saw one in person last weekend at Texas World. They are pretty quick bikes and surprisingly small.

There is no 1098 race version, yet. Nor is the 1098 homologation (street) available yet. So a 1098 beats a 998R is remarkable.

A 1098 in 3rd place, beating a 998R and a 998, and a Ducati Hybrid, in that order, and the rest of the field made up almost entirely of Ducati's and the odd Aprilia, suggests that the 2 valve air cooled big bore Buells beat the entire field of well proven race bikes simply because they have too much of a capacity advantage.

I prefer racing where the disparity doesn't make for clear advantaged winners.

Perhaps someone could clarify. Had those French racers removed the lights of their 1098's?

"simply because they have too much of a capacity advantage."

That's about the next to the silliest thing I've read trying to excuse a Ducati loss to a Buell. You sure it wasn't because of faceshields fogging up?

Sarcasm may or may not be the lowest form of wit. It's still darn funny and highly effective when skillfully employed. Frankly I think the blatant personal insult is the lowest form of wit, in fact not wit at all, just plain old miserableness.

Suggest some folks here do a better job of shunning the miserableness and seek the high road of sticking to the issue in lieu of sinking to personal attack.
