What happened to all the Buell Blast flat track bikes that were around a few years ago? I'm not a follower of flat track (a bit difficult here in the UK!), but remember that Chris Carr & others were using a Harley-Davidson 'XR500' Blast engined bike back in 2003.

We now have a fledgling UK short track series just starting it's second season, and I thought a Blast engined FT would be a cool proposition : )

Most people racing here are using either converted supermoto/MX machines or purpose built, mostly older twin shock US imports.

Most of the flat track blasts were being run by Harley dealers that also sponsored the larger XR's. As the dealers dropped out of the Buell retail business the interest in racing blast dropped off too.

I think KTM and Honda are the dominant bikes here now. Chris Carr runs a KTM.

Hmm...So anyone know where there may be a Blast FT laying around unloved and unwanted?

This weekend is the annual indoor flat track series in Timonium, Md. I know one of the entrants runs a tube frame Blast. He is sponsored by Lancaster HD. If I get up there I'll snap some shots and look in the For Sale lot that usually pops up.

IMHO if it had the "STROKE" of a 1203 cc it would be competive ...

HISTORY repeats it's self, ie: the SPRINT engine was competive on DIRT, but not so
good ROAD RACING to 1965 ... From 1966 on it was competive ROAD RACING, but not so good on DIRT ...

George Roeder of Monroeville, Ohio set a land speed record on the Salt at Bonneville in a 250cc Sprint streamliner in 1965 or '66.

I think both Ron Woods and C&J made frames for Blast Flat Trackers. Also try Japanese company Sundance. They made this Blast Street Tracker.

Can go either way - Chain or belt.
