What really happened was Hayden was dumb enough not to realise Pedrosa was making a move on him

Wow . . . I don't even know how to begin to argue with that sort of logic.

Sean,

If you are being serious, you are ridiculous. Hayden never knew Pedro was there until Pedro ran into him.

While I know it's not appropriate, something inside me wished Nicky's Kentucky redneck side would have come out and he'd have beat the $hit out of Pedrosa right there in the gravel trap.

Can't you just picture Nicky wailing on the diminutive Pedrosa.

Not saying I agree with that behavior, and I'm glad Nicky behaved like a professional, but I can't help but think, "what if".

I can't be the only one....can I?

It's not like Dani was blowing his horn and shouting "get out of the way"

THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS DOING metaphorically speaking.

Once you get that into your head you'll understand Pedrosa's move on Hayden.

Yes, Dani used telepathy to shout "get out of the way" and Nicky was krass enough to pretend that he did not hear Dani.

Remember in 'Top Gun' where Kelly McGillis in front of aviator class is going over Maverick's inverted roll on top of the Mig? How she points out it was not the right thing to do no matter that Mav would have won the dog fight in the long run.

The pilot type fella behind Tom sez,

"Gutsiest move I ever saw Ped"

I'd be delighted if Pedrosa beats Hayden on Sunday. More so if Rossi's behind Hayden in 3rd. Nothing to do with their nationalities. I just think Pedrosa deserves to put his mark on the season, and more importantly he's the better racer. Team mates in Moto GP are not team players. That's F1 where they run on four wheels and politics and the whole circus is screwed up and boring to watch because of it.

The most exciting race series in the world is Moto GP and I couldn't think of a more fitting spectacle to close the season than seeing Pedrosa win in Spain by beating Hayden across the line with Rossi in close pursuit. That is what motorcycle racing is all about from start to finish. Best man wins. Winner takes all. Screw team orders.

But just to keep some of you Hayden fans happy, I'd settle for the same scenario but Pedrosa waving Hayden across the line in the last second.

Of course to understand how this was Dani blowing his horn to get an inferior rider out of the way, you would have to be able to follow the Rocket's thinking path, which would not be a good thing!

And Saab is just waiting for their moment in F1, I'm sure...

Saab waiting for their moment in F1? I doubt it since they're American owned these days.

Saab were once the most successful of any in world rallying though. To think they won the Monte Carlo Rally and a zillion other great races and World Championships. Not bad for a giant killer 850cc two stroke car when you consider the opposition.

Be sure to sign your name though when Buell or Hayden do anything remotely similar in achievements to Saab won't you.

Sean is sick of pro-American bull shit when that's what it is.

As we are talking about Hayden here I wonder how many of you pro-American pro-Hayden types would view Pedrosa's move like I do if it were that they were the opposite way around. I'm pretty sure you would. Then you'd all be screaming what I've been saying all along.

The difference we have here is I see Pedrosa's move as a bold overtaking attempt. I also read into it Pedrosa's race politic and I totally get why and what he was upto. The pro-Americans can't because they are blinkered because it's Hayden. Fast but not furious, unlike Pedrosa. That's what makes a racer in my book. One that wants to go for the gap. One that's prepared to hang it out in the wind. They're always gonna be the best. Pedrosa proved in 5 laps of Portugal he's got those talents. Hayden failed to, otherwise he wouldn't have got tagged.

A "bold overtaking attempt"?

No.

Stupidly running into & crashing his team mate from behind?

Yes.

And for the record dear Sean, if any racer pulled that kind of miserable move I'd be condemning it. And so would the rest of the racing community, as they are in this case. You and Puig are the only two I know who are in denial on the issue. Dani up; he himself admitted so.

You are funny.

Blake darling, for the umpteemth time, play the slo-mo from the forward facing camera. I'd wager there are frames missing from your favoured camera angle that don't allow the whole sequence to be seen.

If you're so cocksure what have you to lose by showing the other camera angle as I've asked? Or are you just waiting for tomorrow when it won't matter anyway, lol?

Funny, I don't remember an argument lasting as long as this when Rossi got punted off by Elias..I wonder why that would be?

All pretty academic now anyway. Portugal is long gone and Spain is looking like a Rossi fest. He looked relaxed and confident during qualifying today, whereas Hayden was flustered and giving people the finger and shaking his head for being 'blocked' on a 'hot' lap. The pressure is building........

The engravers have got their Italian phrase book on the table ready for the trophy for a 5th straight time ;) Now how do you spell 'The only ever 990 MotoGP champion' in Italian again?

Sean honey, the camera angle you prefer is horrible and does not present a good view of the incident. The one above does.

Matt,
I don't have video on that incident, but I can probably answer your question without it.

First: That incident happened in the first turn after the start with Rossi starting from 9th position and Elias starting a full row ahead of Rossi in 6th position.

Second: Elias wasn't Rossi's team mate; he wasn't even on the same make of motorcycle, and at the time Elias had a much more valid claim to be competing for the championship than Pedro did in Portugal.

Third: Elias didn't make a stupid move that crashed himself out along with another. Elias finished that race in 4th place. Elias was immediately on the scene face to face with 14th finisher Rossi after the race apologizing for the accident.

Fourth: It was not the penultimate round of the season; it was the first.

Hayden was blocked? Do tell. The Qualifying results show that his best lap was #22 out of 29 total that he ran. That is strange.

What pray tell do you imagine is missing in the above video sequence or the one I posted previously that would show Pedro running into Hayden in a different light?

Your sequence starts AFTER Pedrosa has already lost the front. Go back another second and you can see that Pedrosa is much further alongside Hayden (which is evident from the front facing camera you refuse to slo-mo).

That repetitive shot you keep favouring makes it look like Pedrosa all but T-boned Hayden because Hayden has already pulled away from a falling Pedrosa. There's a lot more that happened before that clip which is more telling and puts a different perspective on the crash. Please show it and try prove me wrong.

So let me get this straight... you're claiming "Crunch Boy" ran even with Hayden, backed off, and THEN charged in to dump his bike into Hayden???

I'm now convinced that not only are you delusional, you really ARE trolling for responses. If you REALLY believe the tripe you're trying to sell, you need a psychiatrist, not a motorcycle discussion board.

Rossi on the pole. Bayliss (!!!!!) second and Capirossi third. Nakano first on row two followed by Hayden and "Crunch Boy." Tomorrow it's all the marbles! Looks like it's going to be a showdown between the MotoGP champ, and the WSBK champ so far!

Sean, It's an optical illusion (or bad case of optic rectitus) on your part. The bikes were not side by side at any point in the accident.

Images snagged from here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TlxbP3vtXk&NR

Timing is slightly variable, the photos are in the sequence that it happened.

The abrupt upward and forward movement (seen in Pedrosa's head and helmet in the video) happens just before and during the fourth snag. That is the movement that I suspect was caused by his rear wheel lifting under hard braking or as his bike hits the "zebra". It is unexplained, there are no bumps on the track surface that could have caused it.

I am a racing fan, not rabid Hayden fan. I'd actually like to see Rossi win but it has nothing to do with this discussion.

At no point in the discussion have I rooted against Pedrosa or been critical of Britain. Your anti-American taunts and insults to othr racers is silly. You are in danger of making yourself look like an idiot.

Don't read any anger into this, it goes to the point under discussion and friendly advice.

Jack

Jack my anti-American taunts, if there are any?, were in response to the anti-British taunts, and all my above posts are littered with good humour so as to not offend anyone.

Now that's said, thanks for posting those shots. I did correct my earlier stated observations by saying Pedrosa wasn't as far up the inside of Hayden as I first saw. Close study does show Pedrosa well up the inside of Hayden and I'd wager, closer than you guys think too. So now we have the clips from the forward facing camera you want me to believe I'm suffering some sort of optical delusion, lol?

Blake's replay clip reveals something else too. Look where Edwards is and where Hayden is. Then look where Pedrosa's going. There's a door open but no doubt I'm the only one that can see it. Besides Pedrosa that is.

Jai you can't read properly. That is not even close to what I said.
