As a new Buell tuner, I figured I would introduce myself.

My wife and I race with the Arroyo Seco Motorcyclist Association (New Mexico) and CCS Southwest. We picked up a used '03 XB9R last weekend with the intention of it being my wife's primary racebike for next season. Her current "A" bike is a (seriously worked) MZ Skorpion that she has been racing since 2002. In that time, she has also raced some other bikes (TZ250, R6, Ninja 650R), but has always put in her best performances on the MZ (including, if I can brag a little, 2003 CSS Am. Supersingles National Champion, 2005 ASMA Lightweight SB Champion, 2nd in LWSB at the 2005 AMA Sports National, and a bunch of CCS SuperSingles and Ultralight SB regionals).

The MZ is getting to be a little long in the tooth, and gets motored by the SVs. We figured the Buell power would work for her and give her a little more power to deal with the SVs. We'll be keeping the MZ around as a "B" bike, and for racing in ASMA Modern Vintage and CCS Ultra-LWSB.

We should have the Buell out to play with in Saturday practice at the next ASMA round (10/7-8), but I doubt she'll race it until we can spend some time getting it sorted. We have the "race kit" for it, so I'll just safety wire it and throw on some good rubber and we can feel it out.

As for myself, I've raced and wrenched on a bunch of bikes, but this will be my first H-D/Buell experience, so I'm sure I'll have some questions. For the last couple seasons I've been racing a TZ250 and a wicked fast CR500 motard. For next season I'm going turn-key and am running a supersport Ninja 650R (tired of replacing top ends every 300 miles and the occasional at-the-track crank replacement).

I'm sure you'll be seeing me around.

Brilliant : ). I'll be joining you on the track for next season with CCS SW : ).

Maybe we could pit together? I'm new to the racing thing and still don't really know exactly what's needed. I'm sure that fans, shade, generator are the bare necessities...

M1: Let me know if you have any questions about CCS SW. We haven't done a CCS race this season (we took a bit of a break, after running a 14 round season last year), but we plan on doing at least some next season, we'll see how the schedule falls. ASMA is really our primary series. Are you up in PHX? It's worth making the drive to Arroyo Seco at least a few times, it's about 5 hrs from PHX.

I'm in Prescott which is about 100 miles North of Phoenix.

I'll almost certainly be doing the races at Arroyo for CCS. I'd like to get to a trackday over there but my first season for the most part will be spent letting the fast guys lap me and then try to keep up and learn for a turn or two : ). I'll get over there though.
