Talked with folks who have tried the race tires and went back to the street tires.I trust those who have gone before me and survived the ordeal so will keep my present tires. You really want some good grooves to dig a little not the smooth race slicks.Snail and I have talked of hitting Texas Mile sometime soon. But jeez,it's a long ass drive from Vacaville.

F-Jim and I are leaving for the Bub's Motorcycle Event at Bonneville tomorrow morning and just got my 650 cc Blast on the dyno yesterday. It is making 66 RWHP and 50 lbs of torque, I need to re-gear the primary this morning as I was using a 29/56 and that was way too low. I will try a 34/56 today and see if I can pull 125-130 at 7K with a 30 -40% load. If I can I will have enough sprocket combinations to hit the rev limiter in fifth. ... I will try and post a few pictures tonight. ... Wish us Luck Terry

Jim, if you (and/or Paul) decide to come this way, let's make it an Elf-worthy event-Goliad is just a couple of hours from my ranchito.

There's gotta be a way to fit a party in there somewhere! We might even be able to generate some support from the Houston and Austin Buellers.

rt

Go get'em FMJ, Snail and Terry !

Yer boy Wilson's old S2 hit 217 today with too much wind blowing to do a safe back-up run for an FIM record.

83 1987 NRHS V-Twin Performance 217.945 mph 217.832 mph D

Ohmygawd . . . and I see young Snail came within spittin' distance of 200MPH.

I'd guessed, given the high science of Aaron's fuel project that it'd either blow to hell or go like hell.

Looks like it went like hell. If it holds that shatter, by about 10MPH, the record in a game played in 0.001 of a seconds.

Congratulations all!

Aaron is within 3 MPH of capturing the FASTEST SIT ON BIKE at Bonneville. . . that's ANY bike, including all the turbo-Hayabusas, etc.

I spoke to Jim Batnz a bit ago and complimented him on the bodywork. The RR-1000 bodywork is PERFECT and Timbo Horton is reporting the bike is like a "Cadillac on the freeway" and gets more solid the faster it goes.

Pretty amazing. Aaron had nearly thrown in the towel a couple weeks ago. With a 4AM departure looming, he started tearing the motor completely down at 5PM the night before.

The first thing, and he's apparently just getting the lesson in proper perspective, you need to learn about Nitro-Methan is you need to forget EVERYTHING you know about tuning and building for gas. Heads, timing, ignition, EVERYTHING.

A special ignition system was overnighted and the bike now seems perfectly dialed in.

Keep your fingers crossed. Aaron now has 2/28th of the entire 200MPH CLUB and took the $5,000 for the fastest bike last year. Let's keep our collective fingers crossed for a "Fastest Sit-On at Bonneville" award today.

GO BUELL RACING!

"... took the $5,000 for the fastest bike last year.
The year was 2004, the inaugural year of the Bub's meet, and the prize won was for fastest American V-Twin.

Speed Trials By BUB
Sept 6-10, 2004

Fastest Conventional Motorcycle: Hank Booth 219 mph

Fastest American V-Twin: Timbo Horton 188 mph

Most impressive to me by far is the first run, right out of the box success of the TE entry in 2002 when Aaron's Cycle Rama-powered S2-RR1350 became the first ever sub-2000cc sit-up air-cooled pushrod twin motorcycle to break 200 mph. Cycle Rama did an amazing job with that engine, first try, right out of the box it shattered the old record and blew past the 200 MPH barrier that for decades had seemed insurmountable. I wonder what happened to that engine?

Amazing never before done success like that is what gets you invited onto an NHRA Pro Stock Bikes dragster team.

Is Aaron running under the Team Elves banner this year?

Some pics from today @ Bub's

Aaron's bike

Aaron's bike in line. It took almost all day to get in a run. The line was s l o w.

Timbo in Impound

Timbo and Aaron in Impound!

Terry waiting in line

Terry's Blast waiting in line. The wind came up and cut short the day's events.

That sure was a fun day!

Saw the Bub's streamliner take the record, Timbo back up a 213 MPH run with a 214 MPH run.

Saw Snail do 211 on his Suzi.

You all should plan on seeing this next year.

I called Timbo too! : )

If you are fortunate enough to know Timbo, you know the passion he has for Sportsters and Buells. I have learned A LOT from Timbo and am lucky enought to ride with him. Heck, he even helped me put my race kit on the City. Timbo is one of the most humble, good-natured riders I have ever met, and a consumate gentleman.

Aaron is another top-notch individula. I have a cafe Sportster with Aarons Stage 3 1250 in it, and that is one helluva machine. Congrats to Aaron and Timbo, both GREAT guys in my book.

Congrats on 217 guys!

Okay, okay, Timbo just left me a voicemail telling me about the 217mph run, but were in impound when the wind storms picked up so they were not able to certify that run. Timbo said that EVERYTHING was perfect, and things were nailed just right on that run. He said the next day they weren't able to duplicate the run, but they did get 212mph with a 214mph back up, giving them a record of 213!!!

Damn Timbo is fast! He says they are sitting on one prize and they are going to reconfigure the bike for another class. They have about 1/2 a day before trying again. He wanted me to tell everybody hi and if they don't break any more records, it has already been a successful event for them so far.

Good Luck Timbo and Aaron!
