Hey dudes, what's the deal with the centerline over hear ?

If someone's stupid enough to paint a double yellow line down the middle of the road, it doesn't mean Johnny Foreigner can't cross it !!!!! Or does it ????

No wonder us Brit's are fast, we use ALL of the road :)

Rocket,
Brits have to use all of the road due to the fact that they can't control a womans bike and hold a tight line.

Had to stay back with the way that the Brit was all over the road. The 'Bolt only needed a very small part of the road and not the whole thing.

From the roads I saw in Scotland, If you painted a centerline on them, you'd only have a few inches on either side of unpainted tarmac. Bloody narrow !!!
Nearly got creamed by a truck going around Loch Lomond.

Ferris:
Some information gleaned from my brief visit to the Elf encampment. The following information may contain some inaccuracies due to the heavily accented English spoken by the Overseas Elf Contingent.

Rocket reportedly when out for petrol on a borrowed Busa, and came back 3 hours later, wondering whether or not to tell the Busa's owner that he got it up to 170mph!

Grizzly and Hendrik, out for a ride on rented BMW's had a "formal" introduction to at least 4 patrol cars carrying local law enforcement personal. Seems they weren't carrying passports or proper licenses or something, whilst allegedly riding in excess of the posted speed limit. Initial suspicions were that they were International Terrorists. The sheriff was kind enough to call the Elf Encampment to confirm their affiliation. Court (who had just arrived) let the sheriff know that they were here in lieu of setting a Land Speed Record, which in hindsight did not improve their situation with regards to the alleged infraction.

Aaron Wilson spent most of the day putting EVERY BIKE PRESENT on his dyno (quite the gracious host indeed!). For the record of the 2 Firebolt's present, my blue one had almost 1HP more than SteveP's white one. Rumor has it, red bikes go faster. The truth is only a can of Krylon away.

That's all for now. Just wait till all of those hooligans get back to their computers. How 'bout a new thread? We can call it Tall Tales from Team Elves, or maybe just Damn Lies!

and only 170? what a pussy!

and geez-o-pete, if i'm EVER in a bad-enough bind that calling COURT to vouch for my scruples is my only way out of jail, why, well, um, i guess it'd make for a great story!

and the MYSTERY GUEST is??????????????????????

Ferris:

I believe Doug from Portland is the gentleman that lent Rocket his Busa. A genuinely nice guy, I think he knew how it would be ridden. As far as "only 170", I'm impressed he got up that fast. Damn lot of traffic! The local news stations have been reporting all week that this would be the last good weekend for viewing the changing Aspen leaves in them thar hills. That means all of the back country mountain roads are filled with camera toting tourists out for a leisurely drive.

Unconfirmed reports (or blatant lies) lead me to believe that any Erik Buell sightings in Colorado may be inaccurate. My spies tell me that a cardboard cut-out of EB may be traveling the High Country with some nefarious Buell riding pranksters. The truth will be known when the "official" group photo is released.

So we get to play around on motorcycles for the best part of the day. Each to their own. Fixin' , ridin' or just partying, and everyone enjoyed the day thoroughly. Even SteveP who likes to sleep a lot !

It was great for all of us to meet up with friends old and new. Aaron manage to pull himself away from the dyno too, all be it not for very long. After a rather splendid lunch, prepared by our usual in house gang of cooks, including resident cordon bleu chef Linda (that's the same Linda who's been Capt Pete's X girlfriend for 24 years, or maybe 19, depending on which one you listen to), there was a bit of a 'sing song' from the Capt himself. Great toons and a voice to match. Well done Pete. I imagine it was well worth stealing that car to get to the Elf Camp.

Then it was Courts turn. Special gifts were in order, of which I was presented with a red white and blue frilly number to wear, and the tables very quickly became the Colorado Catwalk. Still, I noticed Eric winking at me from the corner, and a jolly nice fella he is too ! Lots of Vegamite and T's were given to certain individuals except Capt Pete, who was stupidly presented with a bottle of rather potent Australian Rum. 'Stupidly' because only two nights previously, we'd tried to kill him with just beer, and he ended up spending the night in a Longmont hospital !!!! I guess those fishermen types are a hardy breed though LOL

Lots of speeches were made, not least of all by Sir Court, and no , Eric was very quiet and remained sat in the corner and didn't participate in the speeches, more's the pity. In his defence though, I believe he was somewhat 'jet lagged' after returning from Europe only yesterday. Still, Sir court is a hard act to follow, which was confirmed later when Court held court up in the Wilson's loft. What a bloody story teller. Captivating stuff, and also facinating to hear 'inside' stuff that makes the Buell wheels turn. A great insight into the business and logistics that keep a niche motorcycle company afloat and it's nice to hear stories that bring a 'realness' to the people that have put Buell where it is today. Hell, even the Blast makes sense when you've listened to Court !

So the tables and chairs were put away and a lot of drinking and whoopin' it up got underway, except for Aaron, who returned back to the Dyno, with several Elves in tow, and set about tuning Roc's Salt Racing Turbo. I believe 125 was reached but Roc has a little more to do still to get the S2 running sweet. Next year eh Roc ?

Anyways, no doubt the pics will be out soon !!!!!

Now about that 170

Rocket

Wouldn't want to spoil the busa-party for You, now Rocket.

Yet with the busa being imported from Europe, -where all the fast bikes originate from- that speedometer did read in kpH, Rocket...

I tell ya, I've ridden a Busa before, and in England, even on the M62 motorway where I was at the time, or any motorway for that matter, it's hard to get beyond 140 for any length of time unless it's the early hours of the morning.

As for Doug's Busa, he's my buddy and he understands the needs of us Brit's when it comes to speed, and we are talking speed here, right ! Us Brit's are speed freaks

So me and Roc, that's Doug's lad if ya doesn't knows already, goes to fill up with gas. Roc was on his Salt Racer Turbo. Anyway, after we fill up with the 'go go juice' we shot off for coffee. We sat and chatted, renewed our friendship from last year and had a nice time chatting away. Then Roc sez to me "my dad won't mind if you want to take the Busa for a ride", which was true because Doug had said as much to me himself. Well, never been one to 'look a gift horse in the mouth', that's just what I did.

Busa's are a fine handling bike and perhaps the only fault, if one could call it that, is that at real low speed they tend to feel like they want to fall over if you're making a turn from get go. Apart from that, if you look at the Busa for what it is, it really is an awesome machine. I tell ya, 160 comes up in an instant and that is the really outstanding thing about it. Fast doesn't tell the story. The story is told when you look at the speedo because it really is deceptive with its speed. You think you're doing 70 or 80-ish and you're doing a 'ton' or more. You think you're doing the 'ton' and you'll be well up in the triple digits. Make no mistake either, a pussy cat can ride one of these things, which probably explains how I got it to 170 MPH.

Now don't take my word for it, go ride one if speed's your thing !

Rocket, always on the racing line !!
