Today, a form (that is being built this very minute) will be posted here.

In that form EVERY person intending to attend this years World of Speed event under the TEAM ELVES flag will be able to provide all their info, provide our onsite response dude (Rex Chaney) with emergecny info, request transport assistance from SLC, be part of an international cell phone pool (to allow Aussies and Danish to be contacted).

Teams will submit their registration so that we can track submission of mendical/entry forms, budget for fees and provide teams with radios and support gear and have tech support provided.

The George Foreman grills are being loaded and bottled water is being chached in the Salt Lake City Costco under the name of Mr. T. Elf.

There is TONS going on today (final shirt, hat and patch design this weekend also)and onsite safety. Teh Volvo Cross Country's and motorhomes are reseved. And.......I am wrangling with trying to make arrangements for 2 folks from East Troy to attend (no, not Erik...I might be able to get him there, I'd never be able to keep him off a bike :))

The C.O.D.G.E.R. is not at fault.....much as I'd like to blame my young apprenctice. The "fault" is that I am trying to build a skyscraper in Times Square and time during the week has been at a premium. Today, Henrik, DaveG, Woz and a host of others are furioulsy making arrangements.

And somewhere under the smokey skies of Colorado I've having visions of a redhead making lots of noise, tweaking and getting things "just perfect".

If you've never been to a Buell event, this will be THE ONE.

By the way:

Pammy - drop me a line where I may contact you today.

Henrik - call me at home when you get a chance today.

Dave G - when can I call?

Rex C - come here I need you.

Ferris - e-mail me your home phone number and the hours Fearless allows you in the house.

FMJH - I will call today. Xmissison talks underway.

Look for registration info here later today or early tomorrow.

Firemanjim: In belated response to your post of 6/16/02 - thanks for thinking of me but, unless I'm very much mistaken, it is a violation of federal law to aid in transport of a CODPIECE across state lines.

Does anyone have a small gas tank, Honda 50, they would like to sell or give to me? It needs to hold 1.32 gallons/5 liters or less, or be modifiable. I need it for "altered" class status.

Should I leave the “Buell Bros.” MPS-PBG record alone and just go for the open stuff? This really is where my bike should be running.

Court – is there a deal to be had on six-speeds?

I talked to Aerocharger today. No spare part support, but he thought I should “easily” have enough horsepower to make full use of my international gearing – on low boost. That means I should have at least 20-25% more power than I can use; decisions.

If Erik is crazy enough to ride something I’ve been working on he can run it for a record.

Roc,I think an easier way to go for Altered class is just make some quick and dirty rearsets to move your footpegs.I think that is what Aaron did on RR.Check rule book. Also most small m/c gas tanks will hold too much for you.It looks like you could nail the MPS-PBF 1350cc record(open) and the APS-PBF/G classes(open also) with just a footpeg change.Aaron, can you confirm?

FMJ - I see footrests "must be ahead of the rear axle at least by 6" " in the modified section. For altered I infer, maybe my mistake, that they must make the bike illegal for modified/closer than 6" to the rear axle. OK - that being said you need to think about who you are dealing with, me - as in not very skilled with the tools.

I was thinking more along the lines of bolting a small gas tank to my top frame rails and covering it with the S2 tank cover. This tank would need to have two fuel outlets on the bottom of it, probably not to hard for my buddy to weld. I also thought that if the little z50 tank held to much fuel that it could be downsized with a hammer, a few good dents and presto! If I could find a plastic fuel cell of the right size it might be even better. I think I'll search for go-cart stuff.

Crim went between A and M last year with the gas tank. He had these two little tubular tanks, looked like they held a gallon each or something. He'd run one of'em in A and both in M.

I think if it's feasible, the gas tank thing may be a little easier than the rear pegs. Foot controls have to be operable with your feet on the pegs, this was a new rule for last year, and that complicates the pegs thing because now you have to move the controls too.

Also, I really didn't like that rear peg arrangement on the RR. The RR already has high/rear pegs. Moving them WAAAAY back there like that screws up the riding position. I'd rather Richard have his feet under him.

To get the RR body onto the S2 chassis, I have to move the pegs a little. The current plan is to not mess with the rear brake pedal, though, just run the rear brake off the front brake lever and not run a front brake. The shift linkage is relatively easy to deal with, just a longer rod.

Got the swingarm back from lengthening the other day.

FMJ,
Captions apear when you move your mouse pointer over the pics. Looks like you got two of them mixed up though. :)

Oh, it's a good idea to put a space between the image tags so they can wrap and keep the browser window's width viewable within the confines of your screen.

Roc,

I got a tank off a Suzuki JR50 that appears smaller than the honda Z-50 tank. It is made of plastic or some other kind of material. Try to look for one of those. Its no good to me but by the time I ship to the good ole US it may be too late.

Phillyblast: I'll take you up on the offer. I'm a native from Philly myself so we should get along just fine...especially if you stash some of Pat's cheese steaks in your luggage for me! I'll ride the bike up from Houston.

Since I have only made this decision just now, I'll have to work out the details of my trip, ie: departure and arrival time, since I do not know the dates of the event off hand. All I know now, is that I will be traveling far west, then coming by way of the Grand Canyon . I will follow as much of it as I can before making the salts.

So let me know the number of days and dates you have the room for, how much so we can split the costs, if you have a cell number so I can call you when I'm near so I can get in, and anything else that comes to mind.

If anyone else can help me with what formalities I must go thru to attend the event, tell me so I can take care of this ASAP.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Bob

Court, form will be on the way shortly. Just have one more thing to fill out. How do you want us to pay for the elf chow and garments? Now or at the salts? So how does it work for actually getting into the event? Do we have to fill out their form or can we just pay on the spot?

If I want to put my hog in the 130 club, what do I need to do to be allowed to run it? Prepping and registering? If I have to prep my daily driver too much, forget it. Chances are, I won't have room to pack my race leathers or my race only SNELL helmet. Would someone be willing to let me briefly borrow these for a run? I will have my race boots and gloves.

Gotta get some maps from AAA so I can plan my route.

Anyone in San Antonio wanna put me up for the night that Tuesday the 17th? I can do the 1800 miles in 2 days but would prefer to arrive in Wendover at a decent time on Thursday evening. It would cut me down to two 800 mile days instead of two 900's.

Anyone else in Texas going that wants to ride up?

TEAM ELVES UPDATE

Forms are coming my fax and by e-amil at a good clip......I apologize for the difficulty some are having with the form. Those who are, we are contacting to resend. Today only one wouldn't open right.

Shirt, t-shirt, hat and patch stuff on the form is an "expression of interest" to allow us to see what quantity we can order in. Shirt design is being finalized.

Elf Chow lanyards are curretnly being produced and the "Event Pass" seems a hit. Where can you eat for 4 days for $35 AND be entertained doing so.

Racers registrations, medical forms and liability releases should be sent to USFRA NO LATER THAN TOMORROW AT THE LATEST. I am going to send Ellen a list of whom to expect from Team Elves. PLEASE let me know if you HAVE NOT done this.

Pictures need only be the best you have at present. If you don't have one, put "picture to follow".

Court a busy boy tonight...meeting with owner of construction project tomorrow puts work on top tonight.

Hi Jeff,

There are several us Buckeyes going going but as usuall we don't know when/how/what. Our bikes will be going out in a large diesel truck with a trailer and we'll either race a land yacht or fly ourselves (our arms will be really tired). We still don't have an exact head count yet so I can't promise anything.

You're going to Vintage Days next week right? I'll be camping, look for an cafe XL, a haze of burnt rope and a collection of emtpy beer bottles, the guy in the LSR shirt will be me.

Jim S
