You'll be at about 86% power at Bonneville (4214'), which puts your speed at about 95.1%. So if it'll do 145mph at sea level, it should do 137.9mph or so at Bonneville. That's assuming both configurations are optimally geared and hp is the limiting factor.

Wheelspin loss is more of a gearing correction thing than a hp loss thing, although I'm sure there is some lost hp in the form of heat. My limited data tells me there's not much wheelspin loss at that speed, though. A lot depends on the salt conditions.

I don't think you'll have any trouble at all making the 130 club.

You can spray your bike down with Salt-away before and after the event to minimize corrosion issues. No worries, mate.

Oh yeah, that's a good point, we want no alcoholic beverages on the salt, save it for back at the hotel please. I like to throw down a few as much as the next fella, but it's just not the place for it, there's too much at stake to take even the slightest chance with.

no worries re: the hooch, Aaron, this won't be my first time around a motorcycle or two.

i know WHEN it's appropriate to do the Drawl 'n Crawl (like, sitting in the stands with Cuzzin' Bob watching the flat-track races during Sturgis -- i thought Debbie was gonna divorce the BOTH of us!) ;)

thanks for the heads-up on my questions above; is there a place on the web where a "salt virgin" can scope out rules and such for the 130 & 140 programs?

and any involvement on my behalf actually piloting a scooter during the festivities is solely dependent on what JB2's got up his sleeve, as i've (gladly and willingly) agreed to be his wingman whilst he's out this way.

thanks again, my friend, i'm WAY amped to be involved :)

Ferris: yup, here be the rules. Sure glad you're going, and Bob too.

I intend to have the emtoo set up for the 150 club, which involves full record class safety equipment (the 130 club is more lenient). Whether or not it'll be able to do it remains to be seen, but I think so. It's at about 111hp now and I expect to get more. The bike will be available if you want to give it a shot.

The Blast is basically ready, but of course, I can think of more experiments to try, if I have time. That's low priority, though. It should run pretty good just as it sits.

The main race bike is in "hurry up and wait" mode. I've done all I can do until some parts show up. I ain't complaining though, the good folks at Cycle-Rama are doing it right, and that's worth waiting for. But I'm gonna be buried in work once those motor parts hit my doorstep. I need to not only finish building the bike, I also need some development time, to get everything out of it (including the bugs!). Makes all the difference in the world. I want to have the best shot at 200 that I know how to do. If I fail, I want to at least come away with the knowledge needed to come back next year and get it.

Should be interesting if nothing else!

Steak was good. OH, you're talking about the "Tail between the legs" ride. I've got My TLR up for sale and the X1 in pieces right now; however, the X1 should be reborn in its new skins very soon. We're looking like July at this point. Maybe by teh start of next season ;)

Plans are a foot for the Australian contigent (thats right 3 or more make an offical contigent) to put on an Oz style party one night with a t-shirt for those who survive the evening. Will need an estimate of numbers for catering and clothing logistics.

Those who've been there,
Is Hill Air Force Base close to the Flats? I plan on being there but must find cheap accomadations. If I can use one of my military benefits that would make things easier and more importantly CHEAPER!!! How about some camping in the area?

There is a bunch of military stuff around there, some public, some hidden. Military airport near the border just outside of Wendover. Not sure of the name, might be Hill.

This link is long and may not work. Looks like there is a Hill AF Range north and east of the Flats, don't know if that's a bombing range or the actual base. They get kind of sensitive out there when people go wandering around.:)
Hill AF Range
Hope this helps.

Looks like Hill would be a couple of hours drive to the Flats.

There is camping all over. Most of the land is BLM. Not a lot of it has facilities.

Many folks camp at the end of the access road to the flats. No facilities there except maybe a portapotty.

Duck:

Look, we'd love to have you, don't get me wrong. I've planned (actually Rex has planned) for a host of eventualites.

One of these is NOT incoming artillary. If you bring down a storm of freindly fire on my position, please know that I will have no choice but to send well-sauced Australians your way in retaliation...in fact, perhaps a couple Hollish and thier uncover, posing as a USian, Danish Doctor. You could have a very nasty international incident if you attack my position.

If that threat fails to alarm you, I suggest you come to Bonneville and see what I mean....

The news down here has been filled with some love lorne woman burnning letters and setting half of Co on fire hope you are not in the that area Aaron.

Dave will try to cram some wine in bag as well see how we go.

Not long now I am looking forward to getting back together with all you .

Ferr... FB1, yeah I'm out here and pumped as ever about the trip to Bonneville. I must admit I have been working on a couple very special projects and haven't even lurked here for a week now. How's hooking up in Grand Junction, CO on the 17th of September sound?

Ferris you should also know that when we arrive at the World of Speed event if you're inclined to run the 130 club then you should do it. I may want to use your Viffer and do the same because I know my stock S2 won't get me in. There's an outside chance my Interceptor will be there but only if a certain hooligan takes me up on an offer to "fly-n-ride".

I'm really amped about the ride to the salt this year. I have several possiblities of a few who may depart IN with me and/or meet along the way. Ferris is the only "for sure" right now but if any of you'ins want to ride with feel free to contact me about it. It's not a ride for light-weights, we get pretty serious on our daily milages when crossing the bread basket. We do however take our time once we're in and past the Rockies.

AW, any dyno parties planned for this year?

Ride Safe, JB2

Man, I have to check this board more often...I have been workin' many hours to keep Wes free to get some important business done. What do you boys have in mind?...I do like to stay busy.

Paul it'll be great to see you again. I remember thinking...how'd those little people knock such a big man down? Remember Rick in his "tighty whiteys"? I wish I had a copy of that video...that was too funny.
And this time you won't have to take me to the airport and miss all the good stuff. Poor Paul missed his talk with Erik cause I had to get to the airport. He is such a good man...He did some great things for some good people on his last trip.
Guess what, Don sold his M2 and bought a Suzuki Intruder...I was in shock when I heard about it.
