I heard from Woz,he is at the Bub's event.Joe Amo on Aarons bike for the first time has run 177 and either 183 or 188.Not bad considering it's all motor(no nitrous) and he missed 5th gear and was in 6th instead--(geared for 5th gear running.)
Kaz ran 194 on his turbo V-rod.Noonan went 236 on his turbo busa, and Jason McVicar went 225 on his turbo busa with no fairing--wow!Hold on tight!!

Man, in 6th gear, Aaron's bike would fall all the way off the pipes/cams.
Pulling a 180+ is respectable in that instance.
Intereting to hear how they did today.

Jon Amo riding Aaron Wilsons S2 Buell got 192.3 mph on gas only. And there is more left in it.

Dang, looks like I better get cracking to catch that guy.

Well, here's my humble report: Home now, central valley, CA., left a day early with reservations, but it looks like it worked out with the wind canceling things thursday. Anyway, WOZ found me right away as I pulled in tuesday morning, and I found Glenn later that day at the 4 mile marker(they gave him the 4 mile spotter assignment, it was a good spot to relax and watch some run as well). WOZ kept everyone entertained on the radio, and also had the great job of handing out the time slips and keeping things in order. Which wasn't all that easy as there was a lot of runs put down on tuesday and wednesday, around 97 and 135, respectively. It was a Busa fest, which I won't get into too much as I'm sure there will be plenty of press on the results. But, the Kaw and R-1 were very impressive too, running in the 190's. Also, the 636 and R-6 running in the 170's. Watching Noonan make his record runs, with salt rooster tail like a hydro, was an obvious highlight. Overall the event was great, course was good, a little wet, but not much, and a very good representation of machines and record attempts, as well as new records. On a personal basis, my S-1 performed very satisfactory after correcting a little air/fuel glitch. With a 30 tooth drive pulley, and the motor pegging the rev limiter at 6800, I was able to get a new personal best of 142.398. My ratio charts show's that configuration without the salt flats wheel spin and wind resistance has a final top speed of around 155, so with the 10% salt flats reduction factor, I feel like I probably got the best I could out of the bike in it's current set-up. Very educating experience, and a excellent rush. Sure beats that short-short course for the 130 club. Also, got to park my rat buell next to Aaron famous record holder for the day, that was fairly sweet. As far as pictures go, maybe the lack of them has something to do with Bub monitoring our cameras. They cleared us as well as press, signed a release for personal use only. I've never posted pictures on this sight yet, so once I download my shots, maybe I can come up with a couple that qualify as personal use to post, later today or tonight. Sorry about getting so long winded, obviously, had a great time. Hey Jim, maybe next year?

Woz called me this morning, as high as a kite!
He said to make sure everyone puts this on their calendars for next year! Said it was so much fun, the rooms were cheap, the food was cheap, and everyone had a great time. REX

Just thought I'd say I'm getting over the disappointment of not getting to the cancelled WoS event now. Still miffed about not getting to meet the riders of some of the World's fastest Buells! Fireman Jim, Aaron Wilson and all. I've been in touch with one of the USFRA officials who seems a nice guy and has sent me lots of stuff about why the event was cancelled etc.. The safety of the riders and the preservation of the Salt come first I guess.

I hope I can persuade the wife that I can afford to book for another year. But I really couldn't risk the loss again that I incurred this year (about a $1000), so I'll have to think of another way to organise things. Oh well, that's life.

Steve.

Hey FMJ,
I've already been through being bummed, then being mad about it, to then letting it go.

We can't change the weather, or turn back the clock.

I have been known to hold a grudge for eons--must be the Irish background.
How is the bike progressing after Bub's?
Wired in my pressure regulated bottle warmer and spooged the Pingel petcock mount that has been a pain.Mounted number plates on the FJ and finally got the darn tach to work.I feel a little better.Gonna go have some tri-tip and dark beer.

Sitting here at work filling out entry forms and medical releases for the World of Speed, oct. 12-15.I keep checking the 10 day forecasts and the weather has been looking real good.SCTA updates sound optomistic so I will keep doing my NO-RAIN DANCE.
Anybody planning on coming out? Could sure use a hand or two.

Jim - Had a great time at the BUB event. There was a great 5 mile course. (6 for John Noonan when the chutes didn't open on the Ack Attack). Put 1600 miles on the V-Strom on the way home. Maybe I can make it up in Oct. How crowded does it get with all of the cars there?

Glenn, not really crowded --at least in the pits.My fear is that there will be alot of people show that would normally go to Speed Week or WOS but those were such a washout.I can only hope the SCTA learned from their horrid showing at the 2002 event. They grossly underestimated how many entries they would have the last time the WOS was rained out.The lines were unbelievable--about 4 hours wait to get a run in--2 runs a day was norm.

On another note, there is talk of some Americans organizing an expedition to Australia in march 2006------

Jim - Have October 12-15 noted on my calender. Guess I'll have to give the Nugget a call for a room. Are Terry and James going? Need to start a head count.
