I rode to my local HD dealer (Seminole HD) today as they had a dyno shootout going on. Since it was free and they would allow me to run in the Sportster class I said what the heck. My '06 Uly registered 85 hp and 77 tq. When I bought it 17 years and 50,000 miles ago from Appleton HD on a fly and ride deal it had 88 hp and 76 tq. Pretty darn consistent. When I left there I was still leading the Sportster class. HA

That's because you had the faster black one!!
Cool they let you run with the Sportys much to the disappointment of the Sportster owners!
Yep, ain't nothin but a Sportster engine in those Buell things!

I've got 51,000 on mine and it still feels as strong as it did when new. Then again, I put an XB9 primary in it! I'd like to see the dyno results with the lower gearing!

Very impressive. I wonder if a healthy shot of Seafoam and a fresh set of plugs wouldn’t have brought it up to the original figures.

I always like the way my Buell performed but thought the claimed 103 HP in the adds was BS. But that number at the rear wheel after the transmission and belt drive I would think easily over 100. Good on Buell.

Interesting comment Hughlysses, the first of every year I run a stiff dose of Seafoam through all my ICE vehicles. I am down to two, Road King and Uly. Now a set of new plugs wouldn’t hurt though. The Uly had a recent KN filter cleaning and oil/primary change too.

Ftd, I too had a "few" vehicles in the stable but have reduced it down to 2. A Road Glide and the Uly. Seems to be a nice pairing. Besides, I always need the Uly to go get Harley parts!

103 was at the crank---no HP loss from belt, rear wheel etc---expect at least 10% to 15 % loss so 85-88 hp is normal.
