Apologies for not posting much lately, still on the site multiple time a week, mostly checking stuff for sale, but wanted to share today's milestone.

Keep the faith, these are great bikes.

Holy Crap. Mine is close to 30,000. Glad to see it will keep on going. That is one seriously awesome milestone. Congrats to you and your Uly.

Not a record - - plenty of other high-mileage Ulys ahead of me, but got my sights on a few 'em. . .

Ride safe.

Just curious, how was this mileage compiled? Is it all trips and weekends or is the lion's share from commuting?

I mostly stopped commuting 16 years ago when I started contracting (engineering) and have missed a daily commute. Didn't get my 08 Uly until 2012 so it never commuted.

About 115k on mine

Funny story, I was getting tires put on at the dealer the other day. This is the dealership I bought my FTR from new. I typically do all my own maintenance/tires but the new bike had it included with the price so I've been taking it to them and gotten to know the service manager pretty well. Dunlop was running a pretty good tire rebate (only available if you bought your tires from a "pro shop") and with the rebate it was cheaper to have them install the tires then to buy them online and do it myself. Anyway, the service manager, after the work is done, mentions, "hey that things a little rattly and has a little oil seepage at one of the oil fittings, getting close on brakes needing done, too". To which I reply, "shit tom, its 15 years old, with 115k on it. I've put 100k on in the last 5 years. Those are the original brake pads, I bought new ones 3 years ago but never installed because they weren't low enough, yet. It has probably been washed (on purpose) 3 times since I've owned it. It'll be OK"

Wake me up when it will reach at least 500000 miles.

Looking on the list of failures and replaced parts on this motorcycle I can tell you basically bought new motorcycle multiple times so these 120000 miles do not count.

Figured this thread might "poke the troll" - - another claimed "enthusiast" who sh|ts all over the brand at every turn...

2cyl: 90% commuting, the bike has been through most states in the West, but at the end of the day, it's a commuter.

Great bike.

I think most bikes die from neglect. Old, rusting outside, carburetors welded together from old gas. Being willing to keep it alive for the long haul seems rare to me. Good luck for another bunch of miles.

Buell has aluminum frame and aluminum engine, there is nothing to rust.

I'm kind of like CupCake Mike - - usually hose down the Uly once a quarter, whether it needs it or not. . .

But, washed it anyway - - here's what 120K looks like:

Got to re-tap the threads for the chin fairing, but pretty much how she goes down the road. . .

Great bike.

^^^^^^ That is awesome ^^^^^^

My first Uly was a 2006 that I bought new and commuted about 40K miles on before it was stolen.

My 2009 hasn't been used to commute and is just barley over 23K.

Hats off to you sir!!

Well, I know a lot of people brag about 500-1000 miles they hit on their motorcycles and call it incredible achievement showing the motorcycle is unbelievable reliable lol.

But those people have low standards, just like Buell owners who calls their Buell motorcycles great bikes.

When I bought my 06 it had some issues. First year bike's usually have issues. I repaired or replaced a few parts and those parts never failed again. At around 50,000 miles it still runs strong and I wouldn't be afraid to ride it anywhere. I've ridden from St. Louis to Colorado on back roads. Hit the twisties of Colorado. Rode Jeep trails to the highest points in the Rockies and then got on the interstates and rode home. It's the best all around motorcycle I've ever owned and I still don't see anything new that could replace it and be as comfortable and fun to ride. Tpehak, I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience. No matter what brand you buy you can always get a lemon. It doesn't mean they're all bad. Mine certainly isn't!

Pwn_uly, congrats on seeing 120,000! I'm at 115,000 on my 02 Road Glide. Much older bike but it gets shared with the Uly! I like your mods too, well done!

Hey Paul, surely you're the guy who hosted myself and Jphish (John Daly) for breakfast in the Olympia WA area some years ago?

I was on a long trip and stayed with Jphish; he said you wanted to meet, so we had a great breakfast. I recall you were going to summit Mt. Rainier soon after (and you did). BTW, that trip of mine was one of the best (I was on '13 GS).

Yes, the Uly was/is a great bike. Mrs. Greg will tell you that no other bike affected me like the '06 Uly. Different in every sense...you bet! Unfortunately, it also stranded me four times (but never more than 100 miles from home).

Anyway, congratulations on the milestone!

Throw-back Thursday:

OK, Paul, you got me motivated. I KNEW I'd taken a photo on that trip...a photo of Paul and his Uly from July 23, 2015 (JPhish and his Tiger and my '13 GS in background):

Yes, I put 55K miles on '06 Uly No. 1 before I totaled him on a deer. Bought '06 Uly No. 2 and put about 35K on him before I decided I needed a more dependable bike for my XC trips.

In retrospect, probably shoulda kept the Uly...
