wanted to ask a question on ids reflashed original ecm or their new ecm's. has anyone had issues with using droid or spy on their products for just maintenance, reading codes, tps resets, or resetting the afv? I have issues discerning blinking light type products altho that is what is recommended by them. not trying to be cheap but another tool for this bike , I wasn't interested in. They had a post on FB several weeks ago that they offered a reflash for $100.00 on original ecm's and I thought of trying it out. I've been wanting a professional tune for a long time but ,,,, i'll spend 100 on a 13 yr old ecm but after wife's strokes and my hip replacement over the last year, we have had some tight times financially. anyhow, any who would have thoughts pro or con please respond. thanks guys!

Ecmdroid will work, but not the old free ECMSpy. The newer ECMspy which you get by donating to a hospital does work with it.

If you use the old ECMspy it corrupts the ECM. It was last updated before the newest firmware came out and it doesn't read it correctly.

Does your bike run OK?
It needs to be in perfect mechanical running condition before messing with the ECM.

ECMDroid is a great tool to help with diagnosis, using a wireless bluetooth connection (thats what the "Buelltooth" does).

ECMDroid will also save and load new fuel mapping programs but if your bike runs well now, why mess with it?

ECM Droid works well and is easy to use. I use an old phone that sometimes has difficulty making the connection, but once there ECM Droid is easy to use.

ECM Spy gives much more information and also provides more opportunity to do things wrong.

Froggy : thanks for the info. exactly what I was looking for. Ive suspected the development of the hardware and firmware for the ecm's have surpassed the development of program ecmspy ver 1 . My ecm has never had any updates that would help me. Ive had spy ver2 twice. once on a Toshiba laptop that took a major dump and lost the program. then I bought a notebook with win 8 then win 8.1 and finally win10. notebook didn't have enough gnads to run win 10 and has never ran right since. it lives for updates, certainly not for me. and spy v2 wont load and operate now. I really like that program and may try another computer to regain that ability in the future. I changed things like cold start settings , fan on / off settings , etc. living on gulf coast and higher nominal temps, these things made bike more livable.
Shoggin, the bike runs good but we all like that little bit extra. therefore, uni air filter, scotts oil filter, I have a xb9 primary and 08 trees with 09 xt forks in the store shed. lowering collar on shock, breathers run to catch can, etc. all these things are in the big picture to get done to make the buell a bike i'd want to keep for a long , long time. now , i'm not saying I have a friend at Texas Yamaha that's trying to get in a T7 for me to look at. anything is possible.
Thanks for all the insight ya'll have provided!

BUELLdroid is in development. Looks like a clone of ECMdroid
