This just boggles my mind. My Uly was laid-up for one whole year (yes, a sin, I know), stored outside (in California), brimmed with premium gas and fuel stabilizer added. Today I put a new battery in, a fresh registration sticker on and started it up. No Sea Foam, no fresh fuel, just thought I'd try it. The bike started on the second attempt and after 5 minutes settled down to a nice 1000rpm idle. So I decided to go for a ride, expecting some bad behaviour. Incredibly the bike ran perfectly! That's perfect by Uly standards, of course. I went out and rode 60 miles and I swear it was running better than it was before I laid it up.

HOW? How is that even possible?!

And boy oh boy did it feel good to be back on the bike. I'd forgotten how crazy fast the steering is. It just urges you to play!

Very happy Uly rider here. Now it's time to give it some well deserved servicing.

Long live the Uly!

Fuel injection is a wonderful thing.

As for why it feels better, you forgot how good it is!

HOW? How is that even possible?

Ever watched What's in the Barn?, with Dale Walksler?
He's started many 100 year old bikes that may not have run for 50 years or more.

The bike doesn't know it's been sitting...

With today's fuel formulations and sh*tty plastics in the builds, starting a long-sleeping bike (or car) is an iffy endeavor.

Heck, I've given up on small 2-stroke yard equipment. I went electrical.

I've been working on a buddy's long-storage bikes, and the fuel systems are a tragedy. And the batteries! Even maintainers are only so effective.

Me too, years ago. I still use cords. My neighbor is all about batteries. I'm not against an old two smoke bike or something with a prop......

I'm converted to a battery guy. The Ryobi 40V system takes the same 'Expand-it' tools my gas-powered head drove.

Bought the string trimmer on sale, along with the leaf blower. I bought the blower mainly for the second battery - which turned out to be a higher capacity than the trimmer.

Now I don't cuss as much fighting to start it nor do I smell of gas and oil every time I need to use the thing!

Over the Summer, I converted from AC -> 2 smoke (thank's Ourdee! : )

I don't really have a good reason :P

I keep telling people put premium gas in anything that will be sitting more than a month. This is why!

I've had good results using non-ethanol regular gas in all my small equipment and in my carburetor-equipped Honda VT500FT Ascot. I'd probably buy non-ethanol for my Uly and EBR, but premium non-ethanol is not available anywhere near me.

+1 on rechargeable equipment over 2-strokes. Hell, you could barely keep 2-stroke stuff running before they screwed up the gasoline. I spent several years of my youth trying to keep a West Bend 2-stroke powered go-kart running, and that was enough to make me swear off 2-strokes forever.

Just replace all O-rings and seals In fuel pump assembly, in fuel line and in injectors by Kalrez O-rings and seals and you are good to go with ethanol fuel.
