Anyone have one they aren't using? I found it when I changed the oil and filter on the Uly. As I was trying to clean up a bit of spilled filter oil on top of the muffler I jabbed myself with the snapped cable end. I don't know how long it's been snapped. Anyone actually repaired one as in splicing it not just replacing it?

If it's snapped in a clear area where the couplers won't snag on anything, just cut a piece of...something, and u-bolt it on there with some small u-bolt clamps. You can get the clamps in the hardware aisle at Lowes or Home Depot, and you can harvest some cable from a mountain bike or even a picture hangar kit (also from Lowe's). There's not a lot of stress on there, it doesn't have to pull real hard but these bikes are 10-12 years old now and simple material fatigue is setting in...

Or they are available brand new from SPHDOnline.com for about $25.

I'd suggest getting a new one and make sure you route it correctly. It's a bit tight on the left frame rail.

Thanks guys, I may pull it off there and see if I can splice it. Probably end up ordering one though.

Had a look at the cable this AM, it snapped in an area that can't really be repaired and still have it run through the cable sheath. I ordered a new one. Don't really know how long ago it snapped. It will be interesting to see if it makes any difference.

Having it working correctly makes a notable difference in mid-range power.
