T Rex Racing. They just release them and now have 17 sets left. It's not on their website yet so just call them to order. |

That's a very nice looking guard, but I see two things that would cause me concern: (1) The front of the guard is attached using a single bolt at the top on each side. This bolt apparently replaces the front isolator mount bolt, that goes through the isolator mount into the front cylinder head. If you drop the bike hard, the entire impact is being transmitted to this bolt which may bend (making removal for replacement difficult) or it could break off the boss on the cylinder head, requiring replacement of the head. (2) The left side cage attaches to the oil cooler mount at the rear, very close to the frame. This is basically a rigid mounting point, while the front of the cage is attached to the engine mount, which moves with the engine. This may result in substantial vibration being transferred "around" isolators and into the frame. Still, this is a lot better than the previous cage for the XB (I forget who made it) that was completely rigidly attached to the frame at the rear and the engine at the front, essentially bolting the engine to the frame and negating the isolators completely. Hopefully you'll never have to test out item (1) above, and item (2) will have minimal effect. |

Fugly, but if you do much off roading, I suppose it would work, if it didn't break off your motor mount. |

Sure wish our ULY's would have come stock with those nice looking pipe and muffler finishes. Now come over and detail clean my 06' for me. |

No thanks. The only upside is that you could mount some highway pegs. |

I too am curious about how they will do in the real world. Like said in previous threads about similar crash protection, even if it ruins the head, a head is cheaper and easier to replace than a frame. |

I seldom wash my bike and it was an rare occasion to have it look so nice! The exhaust was recently recoated with ceramic coating. I forgot to tell the coating shop that this was for my buell (we work on a lot if Harley's) and they proceeded to highly polish the silver coating instead of leaving it as a satin finish. Now everyone thinks I have chrome exhaust :-) |

GP81, Were the pucks on the bike when that happened? As far as the guards, I'm not sure about them yet. Not sure I spend enough time off-road. Though I will say looks like a nice spot to sick some of those mini panniers I see on some other bikes. |

Oh yeah, high sided hard, landed on the puck which is what made the dent. You can still see the outline of it and that was almost three years ago. |

Eaglerider, I like that guard. Thanks for the picture and alerting to it. May I ask, what is the tube under your side bag? And then also the bracket under your top bag? And one final question, what is wrapped around the swingarm? Your bike is really nice looking. |

Thanks for the compliment. The tubes under the side bags are tool tubes/manual canisters from agrisupply. I use it to store tools and one liter MSR fuel bottle. Keeps the heavy stuff down low. The bracket under the top bag is part of the strobe light kit for the police package. The bike also has side strobe lights on the front forks and front strobes on the side of the fender. The bracket on the rear swingarm was part of the TRex kit for lifting the rear of the bike. It is useful for a bike without a center stand. |

Eaglerider, thanks!! I like that idea on the tubes; I would love to carry a little extra fuel too. Ok now I see that those are the strobes attached to the top bag, at first I thought it looked like a second bracket of some type. Is that a police bike (XP)? Don't see the right scoop cutout for the siren unless you replaced that with the bigger scoop. I have a police kit too; lucky to have two top bags, one for the police kit and then just a normal bag. Are you controlling the strobes from the controller under the seat? I have never set mine up. Thanks |

It's a standard police kit using the stock setup and box under the seat. I didn't mount the siren as I didn't need it. |

GP81, Looks like you may indeed be a candidate for the crash bars. I would have hated to see what the frame would have looked like without the pucks. Man that looks rough. |

I had a dent very similar to yours, a previous owner had incurred. I just fixed it, and will probably get some type of frame sliders. This frame protector is cool, and T-Rex seems ok enough, but it is too bulky for my tastes. I have an older crash bar set that I never installed, the previous owner didn't include the h/w, so now it is taking up space in my house. |

Jstav2012, can I ask how you fixed a big dent like that? I hope I never need to do that but just in case. Thanks. |

@motorbike, "Fix" may not be the right term, I actually filled it in. I used the DexCon aluminum filler to build it up, and then contoured it to match. I took pictures, and was considering making a thread, but I do also recall other threads that discuss the same technique. |

Glad to see T-Rex finally released this. My bike was at their shop for a week for them to mock up the prototype. Mine is the same as above, but looks like they changed the slider design. |
