(Though in fairness, that appears to be a Harley Davidson issue where Buell was a victim also...)

No worries Jon, I understand the frustration.

Also, I am insanely jealous of the fact you have an S2. How badly I want one.

>>>Those guys are the best, hands down.

Frankly . . . having, like most of us, been there . . . all I read was the "talking it to JT&S" and knew then that your problems were behind you.

Your bike will be back in no time, better than ever.

Start sweating those martinis from the system and get ready to ride.

:-)

I knew it was just the French Onion Soup talking, don't worry about it.
My Useless has been a real aggravating pile at times but in a lot of respects it is the best bike I've ever owned.

Court,

I am blessed to be close enough to them to make them my bike mechanic and even better for knowing them. Saw both of those guys at Bonneville last week. There is no better mechanic than an enthusiast.

Had Indian food tonight and a diet coke.

Falloutnl,

The S2's a the best kept secret of pre-owned bikes to purchase.

Steveford,

Really good French Onion soup, only rivaled by a really good French Dip sandwich with perfectly prepared horseradish dip.

I'm not even French!

That would do it to anyone.
There's this one stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and I can't remember the name, but they have the best French Onion soup I've ever had.
I stop there every time, too.
Peaks of Otter, maybe?
I think it's time to plan next year's motorcycle vacation around a bowl of soup.

It happens. Glad it turned out to be a straight-forward repair.

I wish I had never let my Uly go. Let me pick one of my other bikes.....The Yamy. Leak past air cleaner; ate piston, rings, bore, valves. Carb plugged up. Shock boots broke in the folds. Turn signals had bad connections. And more. Just one of them. I've never owned a bike that something didn't go wrong on it. Doesn't mean I wasn't frustrated them when they pooped.

If they can tell you how it failed I'd be curious. I just had mine out last night to replace a failed low fuel sensor. There was a big of ugly gas that had settled to the bottom of the tank (which is the bottom of the plug) that I was happy to get out of there, but the pump and the wiring still looked perfect.

It would be useful to know if it was a wiring failure or a pump failure.

Anyone know if the 08's and up use the same Ford pumps that the older XB's used? If somebody can point me to the part, I'll go put an entry for it in the cross reference thread in the knowledge vault. You wouldn't want to make a shop cobble together parts and pieces like that, but for us home hacks, that's a cheaper way to repair the fuel pump.

Also, while I'm already screwing up Jon's thread, anyone know a source for fuel proof cable ties?

Not sure yet why the pump failed, but the code pointed to it.

How about a stainless steel strap got a fuel proof zip tie

Good idea Jon, provided it won't cut through anything over time. I get really nervous with all those electrical wires submerged in a fuel tank.

Any chemists here that can talk about fuel resistant plastics? It's always been a dark art to me. I should throw some common zip ties and bits of plastic in a small jar of gas for a month and see how they come back out.

Got my Uly back from JT&S Performance and the good people in my village are paying the price! It was indeed the fuel pump. Terry and Jim smoked out a couple of other issues too boot and I am all too happy to ride this bike again.

If you are a Bueller in the Bay Area, you cannot afford to not patronize these guys. They work on other makes too, but especially if you are a Bueller it's the place.

Meet Terry and Jim in person at Don Jose's in Castro Valley, CA where ASBN will be showing "Out of Nothing", a movie about Sodium Distortion Race Team and the BMST. Terry Parsley will also have his modified salt racing beast on hand for your viewing and coveting pleasure. Jim Higgins and Terry Parsley are both record holders.

Be there at 6pm.
