I just downloaded ECM Droid and bought a Bluetooth dongle. I was playing around with it in my garage today and noticed when reading live data that my "TPD" was at 4 degrees with closed throttle and 85 degrees at wide open throttle. I change the setting in ECMDROID to read "TPS voltage", at closed throttle I am reading .5 volts at wide open throttle I'm reading 4.03 volts. I've tried to do a TPS reset for an '08+ numerous times with no success. Do I have a bad TPS?

I thought the 08's and up automatically did the TPS calibration?

When you calibrate a TPS, you aren't setting the values to zero and 5v. It's a potentiometer, so you are just telling the ECM what values represent 0% and 100%. The actual values can and will vary from bike to bike.

So it's kind of like zeroing a scale for weight. You just tell it that it is at zero when you have nothing on it.

As I was on the water this morning fishing with my boys, it occurred to me that tpd is a degree reading. So, close throttle should be 0 degrees and wide open throttle should be 90 degrees. I was expecting to read 0 through 100 like a percentage value. I am still 5 degrees off somehow, but not near as bad as I thought at first.

TPS reset procedure for '08+ bikes is:
1) turn kill switch on turn key on but do not start bike
2) rotate throttle from closed to wide open holding at each position for one second
3) repeat Step 2 3 times
4) turn key off.
This is how it says to reset the TPS in the manual. I've tried this numerous times with no success. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I'm not sure if TPD is different than percentage, but the percentage should be 5% with no input, and it should smoothly scroll up to 100% at WOT.

The steps you did for the TPS reset are correct. I'm not sure if what you are seeing on ECMdroid is accurate.

It has been a while since I used it, I'll check what my 08 is doing for TPD.

That would be great. Thanks Froggy!

I am trying to track down my Bluetooth dongle, usually I just use TunerPro with a wire. I hate that ECMdroid doesn't support the more reliable wire hookup. The program is open sourced, but unfortunately I don't know enough about coding to try and add that functionality.

Thanks. I guess I'm not too concerned because she seems to be running fine. I just thought it was a little odd the readings I was getting from ECM Droid. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience.

I suggest doing a few practice sweeps on the throttle before doing the "official" reset.
Just in case, any hiccup along the way will sckew the results

My (08) reads 4% to 85% and .39v to 3.89v.

Just got set up with ecm droid. First thing I did was to save my current set-up. Can't find where it saved on my android tablet though, nor can I locate the saved file in ecm droid. I'd like to copy it and store it in several locations as backup. Is there anyone more familiar with the app that can point me in the right direction? Thanks.

Not sure what tablet you have but on my Samsung phone it can be found by opening "My Files" then "Local Storage" then "Device Storage" then "Android" then "data" then "org.ecmdroid" then "files" then "eeprom". Your stock map should be located here. Good luck!

It's a Samsung Tablet. I tried my files, but I'll look more closely, following your path. Thanks Oostburg!
