I see that some here are using the Memphis Shades lower wind deflectors that are for the Honda VTX 1800.
A couple of questions. The VTX has 45mm forks and the XT has 43mm so how do they fit?
Are the deflectors able to be folded back say on hot days?
And, any recommended place to buy them?
Thanks.

The fork dimensions are for the lower or moving part of the forks. The top, that's held in the triple trees, is the same diameter.

I don't know about the VTX part as I haven't done this, I just know I put my 43mm forks from my 06 into triple trees for an 08 that had 45mm forks.

Memphis Shades lowers brackets '02 VTX 1800 PN# MEM9890 Clear lowers PN# MEP5810
I got them from Motorcycle Superstore. I think they cut down the buffeting. I have an '06.

I have a set on my 09. Don't have the part numbers handy but the VTX application sounds correct. They do not fold but they made such an improvement for me, I would not want to ride without them. If it gets that hot, I won't ride anyway.

Thanks guys, I'm going to give these a try. Buffeting is not my main issue, it's the wind noise. I have a madstat 18in adventure on the bike. Thought about going with a taller screen but I don't really use this one at the top of it's adjustment anyway. Mostly leave it in the lower position angled the same as the forks unless it's raining or very cold.

Ok, sorry to be a pain in the ass.
Doesn't the 06 have a different fork size than the 08 and up? Also when I look for the mounting hardware for the 02 VTX there's three different models for that year. I feel like I'm some how making this harder than it should be, sorry, just find my self paying double shipping, repacking and driving to the shipper more than I like. Thanks.

As I said above, the part of the forks that you will be clamping to is the same diameter on an 06 as it is on an 08. Only the lower part of the fork, where the wheel is, is a different diameter and that doesn't matter for what you're doing.

If get that, wasn't sure if they increased the size of the upper fork when they increased the slider diameter. What I'll do is measure the fork diameter where there going to attach and
see if I can order them by size.
Just so anyone else who wants to buy them knows you can't just order them online by specifying the bike. Whether or not you put in 02 VTX or any year Ulysses. }

Tootal is correct. Do a search, there is a bunch of posts about it. That is why you can upgrade the `06 and `07 triple trees to `08 trees to get more steering lock.
