There are no circuit breakers on these bikes, only fuses. It could be a faulty Bank Angle Sensor (BAS). A Faulty BAS will cause the bike to shut off, but will allow it to restart once the kill switch or ignition switch is cycled off and back on.

I have a 2009 as well. I don't think it's your problem but if the headlight fuse is blown the ECM won't let the bike turn over.

sounds like the seat is pressing on the ecm connectors.

I'd check the ECM connectors to make sure the seat bottom isn't breaking them. I know where you can get a new ECM for about $300.00 plus shipping. Lot cheaper to check it.

The kill switch cycling thing screams bank angle sensor to me. Or ECM connectors, though by 2008 I thought it was relocated so that is not such a problem.

Reepicheep- It seems like the problem is actually worse on the 2008-up bikes because of the different ECM with larger connectors compared to the 2006/2007 bikes. The bottom of the seat can flex enough, even with the spacer block installed on the ECM, to put pressure on the connectors and eventually cause cracks in the solder joints on the ECM circuit board.

Ah! Good info.

On an unrelated note, I can now confirm that the 2007 fuel pump does appear to have the anti wire chafe loom in place, and that you can't reuse the o-rings that seal that assembly, and that gas smells really bad when you spill it all down your sleeve and all over the garage floor.

I try and learn something new every day. : )
