Glad to see that he's still got his 2009 Ulysses.

He must really like it, he tends not to keep bikes very long.

Glad that Egan is optimistic about the new owners. I respect his opinions.
I identify with his theory on age and ideal riding temperature.

Good things to hear. Egan's story on the '06 Ulysses was the shot that bagged the sale for me back when.

Yes, I also remember Egan's story on the '06 Uly. Got me into the fold.

BTW, had the first hiccup with the water-cooled GS: U-joint seized up, they're overnighting a new driveshaft for me. Still hope to keep it till 2019, then look around at what EB (and others) are up to.

So this article was some promising news; I've always respected Erik as an engineer and designer. We ME's stick together.

So you can't just jam a new U-joint in there like in an old dodge?

Whenever someone bitches about Buell's belt drives, this pic usually pops up in the thread.

Is it possible to read this somewhere online?

Yea, I remember the 06 reviews. The first time I saw the bike I thot, wow that's an ugly bike. Then the more I read about it and the more I understood what I was looking at, I fell in love with it. Then... the Peter Egan story put me over the edge. I just couldn't afford one. Many years later I finally was able to get a hold of one... love it!

Here's the Cycle World issue that introduced the Uly. There are some comments by Egan but he didn't write the article:

Egan later wrote an article about taking a Uly on the backroads through the mountains of Virginia. I'm not sure what issue that was but I believe it was early 2006. That article was included in his book "Leanings 3". A portion of that article is included here:

Don't feel bad Dr. Greg. You can't swing a cat without hitting a flaming bmw final drive around here!

I'm still here. Sorry for the delay in communication.
Well, I ended up changing the tire myself.
Broke the bead with a couple wood-working clamps.
Balanced the tire with Ride-on. It seems to work perfectly...and provides some measure of protection against flat tires.
Glad to hear EBR is still going! I love American ingenuity!
