Anyone know about using the BDL-SPC-135-118 (135 tooth 1-1/8in) drive belt on a 2008 Uly-XT? The replacement cross reference doesn't say it's a match but I see purchaser comments online saying it is a match.

Can anyone authoritatively say whether this spec belt will function properly?

Some have posted good results with the non-branded gates belts. Others have posted that they didn't make it around the block with it.

Shock-loading (shifting gears) and flexing backwards (idler pulley) might be to blame for the breakage ... Especially if the belt is not designed for the application

The spc falcon belt has mixed reviews on Amazon, but the 135t belt with an 11mm pitch should fit your XT. Even with proper length, Belt thickness will also need to be corret because of the idler pulley

Here's some info I gathered a few years back.
Note that in the end I just ordered a stock Buell belt from American Sport Bike.

ULysses belt configuration
1-1/8 - width
14-MM- pitch
135T- tooth count

I've often felt that spring loading the tensioner pulley would have been a good mod for the Uly and could make it more tolerant of non-HD belts.

To the Teeps comments: Since American Sport Bike doesn't exist any more that point is kind of moot, but the manufacturer product ID for the belts you provide links to seems to match what I expect will work on the Uly.

I'm kind in a "what the hell? I'll try it" mood this spring so will probably buy the goodyear belt of the right size and see what happens. My current belt is still serviceable so I'll keep it in case the worst happens.

American Sport Bike is gone when they take down the web site. Until then they are open for business: American Sport Bike
