My fan is not running and I'm trying to remove the top 1/2 of the plastic cowl and look things over. I can't see any fasteners, but can't seem to get loose. It moves around but won't come out. Is there a trick or something holding it in? Thanks | ||

It's been a while since I did it, but IIRC, it helps to remove the upper sub frame bolts and loosen the lower ones, which will allow the tail assembly to pivot down. If you have racks for the factory bags, you'll have to remove the lower bolts for those, too. The shroud is pretty much wedged in there, so it takes some "persuasion" to get it out. | ||

I'm trying to get to the wiring so I can see why it isn't running. Maybe put some voltage to it through the wire. Any suggestions on how to test and see why it isn't coming on? | ||

I don't have the ecm spy device. However there is another way to bypass the ecm and run the fan manually. Check your wiring diagram and you will find the wire that runs to pin 3 on the ecm module can be shorted to ground and the fan will come on. It is basically a switch, that when grounded will complete the circuit. I have a 09 Uly. My fan runs fine this way. | ||

New question: This leaves the heat sensor or my bike didn't get hot enough to bring the fan on (never happens) What brought this on? I rode the bike all day Saturday in 76* and noticed the fan never came on. When I got home I started the bike and let it idle for a time (to get hot) and waited for the fan to activate. It never did. Either I didn't wait long enough or the sensor is bad. How long would you need to run your Uly at Idle before the fan comes on? I want to try again, but don't want to run the bike longer than necessary, due to overheating issues.  Thanks for the help | ||
