I purchase a Ulysses last May. It came with a Cee Bailey Windscreen and a adjustable deflector. I'm 6'4'' and no matter how I adjusted the deflector the buffeting and wind noise around my helmet was terrible  My Buell came with a box of parts which included the stock windshield. I mounted it to the Cee Bailey (CB) windscreen using carriage bolts and pvc spacer which allowed me to adjust the angle and distance from the CB. This helped but the wind was still hitting the top of my Helmet so I added the adjustable deflector to the stock windscreen. This actually work good, but 3 windshields is a bit much.  So I started reading BWB post on Windshield Mods. There were a lot of post stating less is better as far as windshields go. Easy enough to check, I rode the bike around standing up, sure enough less buffeting. So I cut down the CB and added small deflector on the forks.  I still wanted something more for riding on the freeway and also wanted the cut down CB for mountain rides. So for lack of a better term I made a overlay windshield to mount on the CB. It's made from an 18''x24'' piece of polycarbonate purchased from homedepot for $20.   Went for a 300 mi ride in the Napa Valley Presidents Day and the overlay worked well. Still need to fine tune both setups but I think I'm on the right track.  | ||

The most quiet on the highway is the stock 06 windshield. A lot of wind on your upper body but clean and quiet. On a long trip and in the rain it can be annoying so that's when we start experimenting! | ||

The most quiet on the highway is the stock 06 windshield. Don't forget that seat height (tall or low/07-up seat) and your torso height play into this too. It makes it damned hard to take data from one guy and translate it into what works for you. I'm fairly short but I've got a long torso. I'm currently running an 06 low seat and the factory tall windshield. I have no issues with buffeting, but it's not particularly quiet. The standard windscreen was no better for noise. Everything IS quiet when I stand up on the bike. One of these days I'm going to take the mirrors off temporarily and see what that does. | ||

Impressive work, Buellmoose. Kudos man. I've tried a number of things, including the lowers, but I've settled on the stock shield with a laminar lip on my 08UlyXT. I'm 6'1", 34" inseam, and I have the tall seat. | ||

C'mon guys, someone has to say it! Not in a judgmental way at all, but that thing could make a train take a dirt road, it's so ugly. Seriously, not judgmental given some of the things I did to mine. Looks like a collision with a traffic cone gone bad. Hugh is right about what works for one doesn't work for the next. The best solution, by far, that I found was the Palmer tall screen and the Palmer adjustable brackets. I always ride with ear plugs, so some noise is ok, but the quieter it is before you put the earplugs in the happier you'll be once you have them in too. | ||

Crempl It’s appears you have no taste when it comes to wind screen design, especially after hour and hours of wind tunnel testing (my face with the visor open). I hereby give myself the outstanding award for artistic, functional’ innovative and just plan cool wind screen design. | ||

Have you thought about adding some deflectors to the upper legs of the forks to keep the air blast from coming up from the upper frame and air box? | ||

Buellmoose, worry not about an opinion on anyone's part about your well crafted and personalized functional piece. I have taken a lot of crap from a lot of yahoos over my B.A.W. . I am considering installing it to ride to Glitchbadness the first week of April(I haven't been riding this winter). If it gets warm enough I may leave it off. This thing is great for riding in winter. Many times I have ridden with others who have been numb from cold. They have even asked to try it when it rains!  Oh.....0 buffeting on the helmet. My face shield is right at the top edge so I can look above or through the windshield. | ||

Remember when everyone thought a Ulysses was the ugliest motorcycle they had ever seen? But Charles.....where is a picture of your windshield modifications? I am impressed that you had the good taste to own the fastest and best gas mileage Ulysses-an '06 Barricade Orange one! | ||

I did indeed own the fastest color know to man. I have no pictures of my Palmer set up. A person of questionable immigration status wielding a leaf blower wasn't looking where he was going and backed into the bike, breaking the screen. Put the tall Buell screen on the Palmer brackets after that. It was pretty good, better in hot weather even, but not as quiet and calm as the large Palmer screen, and nowhere near as protective in cold weather. Pics will be harder to post now since I sold the bike. Sniff sniff.... With regard to gas mileage, I would occasionally top 60 mpg, but usually mid 50s if on a trip. 40-45 around town. I personally never thought the Uly was ugly, at least until I saw some of the above pictures. Pretty adventure bike is an oxymoron at best. If you want to see what I think is the definition of a sexy motorcycle, check out the MV Agusta Turismo Veloce. Makes me weak in the knees. | ||

Just shoveling some of $&^! back at you Crempel. And that one B.A.W Etennuly. Bottom line ya do what works. I’m new to the Buell world and have done a lot of mods to my bike, most of which are a derivatives of something seen or has been written about on BWB. Just want to contribute and keep the site alive. So what’s next Ski Racks? Actual the grass is turning green and the trees are flowering here in Northern California, it’s time to ride!!! | ||

I rode beside this bike today! It looked like a paint job on that faring might help, and the headlight did not look to fit in the hole correctly, but it does not look as bad on the road as it does in this picture. | ||

 I have the Palmer set up on my 09 Uly. After some fine tuning I managed to get a stock height shield to work well. Palmer lets you tilt and gives you 3 different height settings. The mount places the windshield about 2 inches off the windscreen. I'm 6'2" with 34 inseam and I'm currently using a low seat but I just ordered a tall seat with a (4+) tall windshield. Hopefully my settings will remain the same after install. | ||

I tried the Cee Baileys as large as they make them and had terrible buffeting issues. I just came to the conclusion that the bike really isn't meant to block the wind. I settled for a Zero Gravity (black, but extended size) and haven't looked back. The wind really isn't a problem as long as it isn't buffeting on the helmet and with the extended windscreen it hits my upper chest so my head gets a smooth constant pressure. Sometimes less is more. | ||

 Not Much left of the Cee Bailey. Helmets rides in clean air no buffeting  Final version of the overlay windshield. Bolts on in about a minute. Ride without the overlay in the mountains, when I head to the coast I use the overlay (I know it still looks like a cow catcher) | ||
