Since EBR no longer sells the performance ecm, I have found a place called IDM they sell "performance ecms" . Does anyone know about these, are they similar to the ebr mapping?

IDS?

I have one of their ECMs. It works well. Prolly not optimized for my muffler, but I cannot fault them for that. I chose what I thought would be the closest match to what I have, and the bike runs well.

If you are referring to IDS, they have been the supplier of all Buell and EBR ECMs since the 90s.

The ones they sell are identical to what Buell and EBR sell/sold, down to the programming. Only difference is the decal. I have an IDS programmable Race ECM on my 1190SX and it is fantastic.

No way, I had not heard of them till today, I know this has been done to the death and I'm searching old posts now but what changes can i expect, will it improve mpg?

Did the ebr/idm ecm's sacrifice any reliability?

Also regarding the stock buell ecm. Which one's had an updated fan logic, mine is an 08.

I am still debating whether to keep my Buell or not so i am exploring options.

It lets the engine burn more efficiently, so yes, but you will end up twisting the wick more and riding harder, so you end up burning your savings. The smiles per gallon goes up regardless

If anything it improves reliability. If your stock ECM is in the original location, it may be damaged, so do a relocation when you pop the new ECM on. Any other difference in reliability is a coincidence.

2010 models came stock with the updated fan logic, while 08 and 09 models can get the update downloaded at a Harley dealer to give the newer fan control

The EBR/IDS ECMs come with the updated logic.

Thanks, if I keep the bike I will get it, as for the muffler, I'm thinking of leaving the stock one on for the reason of availability on the used market in the long term.

The IDS ecm will let the bike idle at a higher RPM at start-up. Don't forget to reset your TPS often. Good idea to do it now.

Why do I need to reset the tps often? I usually do it at the 5k mile service.

You don't. Only time it needs to be done is when you swap out the ecm or if it's not running correctly.

The TPS on 08+ bikes is self calibrating, it does not need periodic resets.

"Does anyone know about these".

They are very bad news. These ECMs can get a bit wild sometimes and decided to make your bike run bad just for the hell of it. Most of the time it is a wife issue and can be worked out however do NOT get one with an adrenaline addiction as they only want to go fast.

Mine is probably wonky then. My 08 XB12Scg runs better with tps resets. Don't know why, it just does. The ride to work often sees a steady 2300 rpm in 5th gear. Some days going up hill it gets a hiccup right there. I have found a tps reset ends the hiccups till the weather gets colder. (not running correctly)

My apologies Shane, I only have experience on a couple of 08s. This last one came with a Hawk pipe on it and I had IDS send me an ECM for it.
