So a couple weeks ago, I had my speedo drop to zero while riding, and not long after, a CEL of course since I suppose it had no idea how fast I was going etc.

Either way, with some searching here, I found the way to pull the sensor, clean it and replace it. Since then, all has been good.

What I am really looking for is if this is a sign of that sensor going bad, or was it truly dirty? I didn't really notice anything on the sensor other than possibly some oil or grease. This is the first I have had to touch it in around 28K miles.

All is good for now anyway. Thanks guys.

In my experience I would say that it is a sign of the sensor going bad.
YMMV

I agree. Thanks to American Sportbike, I have not worried too much about getting the part when it truly does fail. I will keep an eye on it.

Season is pretty much over here. The bikes will make the migration to the back of the garage as the sleds move to the 1&2 spot near the door. The garage door opener fob goes from the bike jacket to the sled jacket.
