The exhaust servo system can be turned off using ECM Spy or tuner pro, depending on the year of your bike.

If you get a race ECU, it doesn't even look for a muffler valve.

The proper solution is to get a Race ECM, as with an aftermarket exhaust you will be running on the lean side. The Race ECM is tuned for your exhaust, and will fix the engine light in addition to making the bike run properly. $300, but well worth it.

That said, the cheap but not recommended solution is to use TunerPro, which is a free download (just need to buy the ECM interface cable), you would then use TunerPro to disable the error code for the exhaust actuator.

I heard that on a 2009 it will automatically [after 3000 rpm] adjust, not needing the ecm change?

All fuel injected Buells can make minor global corrections to the fueling via the AFR. This minor adjustment is to compensate for changes in altitude and weather, it cannot properly compensate for changes to the exhaust system.

You do not want an eliminater. You want an emulator.

Ourdee is having positive thoughts about IDS I presume. They made all the factory EBR modules and most of the XB stuff as well. Tim at IDS is a great guy.
