Though apparently only when hot (i.e. after riding 10 or so miles). I first noticed it when I was on holiday in France last week, like when rolling downhill (not under power), a small click (like every 1.5 seconds) that would (naturally) increase in frequency (to a tick, tick, tick, tick sound) as you pick up speed.

I've just jacked up the bike a little to rotate the rear wheel, but I can't replicate it when the bike is cold.

Is this something wrong with the bearings? Cause those have been changed last month (by someone who's probably done it a thousand times). Thinking that therefore it might not be the bearings. I have, however, strapped down the bike on a trailer when I rode it down to my holiday destination... read somewhere that the bearings don't like that either.

So, bearings or does anyone know of another option?

I found this on my Uly, it was the rear bearings. The stock bearings in the 3 bearing wheel have metal cages, one of which was broken in mine.

Hmmm, yeah, I guess I'll take it back to the shop then.

Wheel doesn't have any play on it though. And I don't feel any notchiness when rotating the wheel (cold). Weird.

I'll go for another ride, then jack up the bike shortly after. See if I can feel it then.

Mine didn't feel notchy by hand until I started doing full rotations.

Gotcha.

Man, I love this bike, but this thing with the bearings is a major bummer. Especially since I went out of my way to have them replaced as a preventative measure.

Here's what I was greeted with when I heard the click, click, click on my '08 XB12XT (with the 2 bearing rear wheel):

Uly bearing - NO BALLS

It was that incident that got my rear wheel replaced with a 3 bearing rear wheel,

Improperly installed new bearings are worse than working old bearings.

I would go ahead and remove the rear wheel so that you can do a proper inspection on both the rear wheel bearings and tensioner pulley.
