2016 Triumph Tiger 800xc

I did it, too. Not because I am done with my Uly. Rather, I am done with my KTM. Will be selling a 2010 990SMT shortly. I wanted to go dirtier on a new bike. Hoo boy, is this thing fun and rewarding to ride. The motor is an absolute gem, and blows away the idea that a bike with ONLY 800cc is not enough. Add that to the revamped WP suspension, and I am amazed.

Nice looking bike. Did they upgrade the suspension this year? Glad you're keeping your Uly. We'll expect impressions and comparisons, including the KTM. Was the KTM too close to the ULY (why did it get the ax)?

Arry-

For 2015, the XC got fully adjustable WP suspension. The XR and all the older bikes have Showa suspenders, with less adjust-ability.

The KTM is getting the ax simply because it's too high strung for me. "Ready To Race" is the company motto, and I was never able to just chill and ride the bike. It was always begging for more speed, wheelies in third gear, etc. A blast, but hooliganism is a small part of why I ride. I ride mostly to relax, explore, and OCCASIONALLY act like a turd on two wheels.

Initial impressions? Ultra smooth, flexible motor. Great torque AND wicked top end. Flawless fueling. Powerful brakes and amazing chassis. And comfortable! Especially when standing up.

Only 170 miles since I picked it up Thursday. Many more to come!

And free software to get into it! Check out the Tiger 1050 forum and Tune Ecu!

Jim-

Tune ECU is a program I used to upload a smoother map to the KTM. It looks to be a powerful tool! If only I had a clue how to use it. I assume you are the software guru?

The stock Tiger map seems pretty flawless thus far...

When you mentioned the KTM "ready to race" character I laughed. That's what I thought of my old Cagiva Gran Canyon. Amazing bike but was always in attack mode! The Uly was much more relaxing and comfortable. Enjoy the Trumpet!
