Well hopefully that TB will just collect dust. I don't think the new shaft will have any problems. Everyone above that mentioned the lack of metal around the screw is exactly right.
I believe the butterfly is part of the structure of the assembly. If a screw loosened just slightly then you start getting flex when you're at idle. The vacuum pulsations constantly bend the shaft until it gives up at it's weakest point. If they had just used 3mm screws it might have been enough but 4mm didn't leave enough on the plate.
The material used could be at fault too. Some steels are more prone to crystallizing than others. From a look at the fractured area it does look crystallized. |

Tootal, I bought one of your shafts a year and a half ago, put it, didn't run right, got frustrated and as I have other bikes it sadly sat.
Not too long ago the bike needed to move from where it was, I bought a new TB and now the bike is running like a top! Good Lord how I have missed her!
My question to you is, did you make two shafts? 06 and 07?
Mine's an 06 but I had replaced the TB once before with the 07 TB, hence then issue.
I also an trying to figure out another bike that needs a TPS, the replacement 06 number has the notches at 11/ 5 o'clock and the original is 7/2.
My timing my be off, tired.

According to my files I sent you a modified version that should have worked for either year. It had two tps pin holes in it and you just had to use the one that was like your original. I have no idea why it wouldn't run right as I test each one in a throttle body. Could you have put the butterfly in upside down? I've not had any complaints of bad running as there should be no reason. If you look at the butterfly does it look like this?
As you open the throttle the numbers will be on top.
As far as the tps, the 06's tps pin is close to being parallel to the butterfly and the 07 is close to perpendicular to the butterfly. |

Thanks for the response, I'll look at it when I get a chance and get it set up properly and I'll have a spare for next time and there will be a next time.

Looks good. One thing though, the tps sensor is spring loaded and you must rotate it counter clockwise till it stops and then rotate clockwise until you feel the tangs touch. Then rotate another 1/16" or so and lock it down there. This preloads the sensor so it doesn't bounce around at idle. Then to a tps reset in this position. Then ride the bike for 20 minutes until hot and do a hot tps reset. This should make it work well. |
