I was just wondering what the differences are.

Seat and fender are the only differences IIRC.

The suspension and forks are different as well

...and the kickstand, to suit the shorter suspension. Wheels are also standard XB wheels as opposed to the slightly thicker X wheels.

They use the same seat.

Differences off the top of my head:

Suspension, fender, windshield, wheels, tires, kickstand, decals, color choices, XT has luggage standard, X has headlight grill. I'd have to look at pictures to remember the even more minor differences.

Indeed...suspension has about 1" less travel on the XT, hence the kickstand is also shorter. Both came with the H&B side cases, but only the XT also came with the top box.

X wheels are heavier, for off-road use.

Essentially the same bike with a few different options installed on the assembly line if you think about how they build cars (loads of options, compared to the MC world where they come off the assembly line essentially identical except for paint).

Wrong.

X was factory-built with NO cases. XT had all 3. Many (most) X buyers added the cases.

All else above is accurate enough for this thread's purposes.

Low seat is stock. At least it was in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Oh that's right, that's all years.

On the 2008-2010 X and XP models, the front forks are larger diameter and the triple trees have more turn lock, as well as offset front axles. The XT models has the regular forks as well as the standard XB triple trees.
