I have a 2009 XB12X and a 2008 1125R.
I never ride the 1125R so I want to combine the bikes and make a Ulysses 1125.
I've seen some photos of guys that did this already but I'm wondering how my big X front forks will change the ride hight of my 1125R.

Some of the pictures of the ones I've seen look really short in the front.

I want to cut the pods down also

My bike will have yellow bodywork and blue frame and wheels. should look and run good.

I think some partial conversions have been done (Uly tail on 1125 frame), but I don't think anyone's done the whole thing yet.

Can't wait to see it!

I wonder if you can adapt the radiator config that they use on the new Buells?

I'm not aware of anyone doing a tall suspension on the 1125. The main issue I believe is the rear wheel clearance, it doesn't have much room between it and the muffler.

Nate, the 1190 radiator setup can be done, it is just really expensive as it requires all kinds of new bits including headers, and it won't simply bolt on due to the differences in the frame amongst other things.

This is going to be a long project. I知 off for a week at the end of the month so thats when I知 going to start it. I will photo everything.
The first part I will change over is the front end and tail section/seat on my 1125R to the Ulysses parts.
I知 going to use the stock 1125R rear shock first, then try and see what I値l need to do to add the Uly rear shock.
Muffler, kickstand and belt tension are a concern.
As time and money permits these are some of my ideas.

Cut the pods something like the Photoshop Uly we've seen many years ago on this site.

I always liked the First Barricade Orange Uly, I had one. The orange rear part of the seat makes that bike.
I want to do mine in yellow, to match my bodywork and stencil in the Buell Logo.

Top Mounts of the saddlebags will be easy, I値l just need to fab the bottom mount.

I want the two end caps on the muffler of the Photoshop dream Uly. I think I can get my fab guy to do that and make my muffler shorter if needed for the rear tire clearance.

Mod my yellow spoiler to fit on my 1125 Uly.

Option #2: Sell the 1125, use the money to put a 1250 kit, headwork, exhaust, and tuned ECM on the Uly. Similar power, but more bottom end and less top end, less revving, air cooled, simple, cheaper, more maintenance free as well.

I'm sure a badass 1125Uly can/has been done. I was just stating option #2 : ).

Carbon Fiber Bob from Denver did the conversion making a 1125 Uly and it looked like a factory product

Selling my 1125 is not an option. I really want to do this project.
i'm not a photoshop expert but this pic will give you a good idea on what I'm shooting for.

I like your photo shopped rendition of the 1125 ULY. It does look a bit bloated, kind of distended in the gut/muffler area. Might need a new front tire though.
I'll be looking forward to seeing the end result of your labors.

Yup, not a PS expert. I was trying to remove the 1125 front fender so I could use the Uly fender and chopped to much wheel and the program kept crashing. Its hard with two different size photos.

I'm going to do the project in stages.
1. Add the Uly Tail and seat to the 1125R
2. Front fly screen, headlight, speedo.
3. X forks and trees, ign switch
4. rear shock for the right ride height if possible. I might even mix and match both rear shocks to get what I need. their both 40mm Showas. (I've taken rear shocks apart and added Gold Valves) I was thinking the body of the piggyback 1125R shock and the shaft of the Uly rear shock. I'd have to look at both shocks but its an idea. could be as easy as swapping shocks....

My 1125 Ulysses Project is a no go. I知 bummed!
Main reason, the trees on the Uly will not work on the 1125 frame. The lock numbs are reversed.
I really wanted those trees so the lock to lock would be the same plus I wanted the longer suspension.
I致e owned a 2006 Uly and the only thing I didn稚 like was the short lock to lock. If I use the 1125 trees with the Uly forks, with even shorter wheelbase and still shorter lock to lock.
A few things I did find out was the pods can be cut down a bit so the Uly beak fender would fit.
I was doing some research on shocks and ride height and had a plan for the rear shock.

I spent three hours and have the fairings off both bikes. I'm glad I went with the front end first and I didn't cut any wires!

Could you now use the steering shaft off the Uly to out into the 1125 frame?

I was really looking forward to your updates. A water cooler/EBR AX would have been in my short list.

Myself I would be more interested in an XB9X. I never use my 12 to it's full power potential now! I'm starting to see motorcycles going to smaller cc motorcycles these days

Personally I don't think there's enough weight difference between the 9 and 12 to make a 9 more appealing.

You could cut those lock numbs off and have new ones weld on the correct place.

Trees on the STT are the same as the 06/07 Uly.

There is no weight difference between a 9S and 12S if you take the mufflers off.
