My seals are good and I had the same experience. I reduced the idle a couple hundred rpm's and it works very well now.
If you do this, do not reduce it more than necessary because you are reducing oil pressure at idle as you reduce idle speed.

Bad reset procedure and/or idle setting. But like Dan, I always do mine by the book, to the values indicated by the electronics...then generally have to drop the idle a couple hundred from there to get it to behave itself.

Presuming this is the 06 in your profile. If it's the 08, re-do the reset with the engine HOT and see if it helps.

Idle near 1100 will get that hanging at 2000 nearly everytime on an '06-'07.

I backed mine down from 1050 to as close as 1000 to 1025 as I could get it. That is where it works best.

Do all of your TPS and idle adjustments hot. Also next time you are in there make sure the throttle plate edges are clean. Carbon on the edges will mess up the TPS reset.

If it's the 2008, it can be a sticky switch at the clutch. The 2008-up ECM has a circuit to keep the idle higher when the bike is in gear and the clutch is released, I believe to reduce engine braking. If the clutch switch sticks, the ECM "thinks" the clutch is still engaged and holds the idle higher. You can test it by bumping it into neutral while idling. If the idle goes up when you put it in gear, you've got a sticky clutch switch.

It happened on my 2009-engined 2007 Uly a while back. A shot of contact cleaner in the clutch switch fixed it right up.
