After quite some time thinking i'm selling my 06 Ulysses, i have changed, and the bike is great, but dont feel riding it as before, si my inicial plan was to sellmit and suave enough money to buy a Triumph tiger 800, but there is an X1 available, and having owned one i know that bike will make me happy again, and not leave the Buell family.

I quite often think of selling mine too. Then I see what they are selling for and realize that it is basically ratbike money and figure I might as well keep it around as an extra bike. Then it breaks down again, and I am pretty much willing to give it away. Then I cool down, fix it and consider selling it only to see that it will only fetch ratbike money, and... it's an endless cycle.

Traded my XB12XT last weekend for a Triumph Bonneville T-100. Trade value was horrible, yet they gave me more than most dealers were willing to. I was to the point I wasn't riding the Uly and hated to see it sit. When something did go wrong it took months to get parts, etc. and I just didn't want to sink money into back stashing parts. Had some good times on the Uly and loved the bike.....just decided to go a different direction.

Chromehead,
Now you can watch your Triumph sit.

Sagehawk, yes, I got it to rumble back to life this past weekend. My brother is coming in April for a multiday dual sport ride west of Austin and San Antonio, so I will for sure be keeping the Uly until then.

Court- Had a few that took months. The exhaust actuator and also the front mount isolator. Both times the bike was still rideable, but they just kept it in the shop until the parts finally came.

Electraglider_1997 - LOL, could very well be true. Oh well, at least it is paid for.

I just bought a '14 Tiger Explorer. It is one sweet ride, and since I'm very rarely off tarmac anymore, it suits me perfectly. The Uly is still in the garage because of the reasons noted above, for the money I'd get for the thing, I may as well throw a tarp over it and make it someone's barn bike in a couple of decades. Hell, it won't be worth any less in ten years. But the reality is, if I keep it I doubt it will sit. Hey, I just put a new starter in....

So how do you like the T-100, Chromehead? It is such a different bike than the Uly, I am just curious as to what made you go in that particular direction.

Buewulf - to be honest we have been so slammed with snow, rain and flooding the past week and a half I have not had it anywhere but around the block thus far.

As far as changing directions - I tended to ride the Uly a little more aggressive at times than I obviously did my Street Glide. Watched 2 of my friends in the last 3 years wreck their sports bikes and just decided it was time to slow down. I have always loved the twin Triumphs look and history ....the timing was just right when I found one with only 1,700 miles a few hours away. Also like the numerous directions you can take the Bonneville and make it yours. Lastly, it is just not a bike you see often around where I live and I like it is different. Love my Street Glide, but they are a dime a dozen.

I am going miss the Uly, and it will make someone a darn good ride for I am sure a great price.

Skifastbadly - Very cool bike!! I bet it is a lot of fun. I totally understand on it is so hard to let the Ulysses go for next to nothing. It is a hard pill to swallow. Especially when you know the bikes capabilities.

I sold my '06 in December for $5100. It had the full luggage set. 15k miles. Bought an '09 Moto Guzzi Stelvio with 2k miles for $7700. I do have some seller's remorse, though, that Uly was a good bike for me. Only problems were the fuel pump wiring and the rear wheel bearings, but never left me on the side of the road. BTW, remember the tongue in cheek acronym for FORD? Found On Road Dead?

Terrycoxusa,

You got a decent price it seems to me, compared to comps I have seen on ebay, etc. I got $4500 on trade, and as you said part of me has sellers remorse. I have it every time I trade a bike though. I am sure I could have sold mine for more privately, but to be honest for me it is just easier to trade if I find something I like and take the hit on the trade in. Not saying it is correct thinking, just mine. How do you like the Guzzi?

Seems like I am not alone.
I just picked up a 2014 KTM 1190 Adventure on Saturday, and already have the break in miles completed (630).
Still have my '06 Uly 'cause I don't think I'd get enough to sell it. I would change my tune if I thought I could get close to the $5100 that Terry got, though.
The Buell is a spare bike now, as I instead sold my 2000 BMW R1200C to help pay for the new ride. The BMW was worth more than the Buell, and I sold it in 2 days (much to my surprise).

Broke in the KTM on 215, 276, Deal's Gap, and the BRP, which was not an option where I used to live!
OMG, is this new bike ridiculous. It makes everything so fast and easy that I am afraid I will get lazy on riding technique!
The power is crazy, and I was keeping it below the 6500RPM warning light during the break in period. After that it is OK to 10,200RPM. If I can hang on...

Chromehead, I have put 2,500 miles on it, and I like it. A little more handlebar vibration than the ULY, and the suspension is not as plush, but I love that 6 speed easy shifting tranny, the build quality, and the 'drive all day' feeling. The brakes are better, too. No pulse on the front and better feel on the rear.
