Was getting some oil for Toothless' oil change and asked my parts guy of he might, on the off chance, have any filters.

So he knows he does not but looks it up in the system to see if there is and cross compatibility. Does not see anything but goes in the back and grabs his XB12X Ulysses Parts Catalog. No help either.

Then looks at me, tosses the parts catalog at me and says "Take it, you're the only guy I know with a Ulysses and I don't need it." SWEET!

That's great, did you get a filter?

A couple of days ago a battery that I bought at Dillon Brother HD wasn't starting my ULY and it was less than 6 months old but more than 5 months. They checked it out and ended up giving me a new battery without any hassle. New battery warranty also. Now the ULY starts without any starter hesitation. Have no idea why the other battery crapped out so soon. My charging system works just fine. Moral of this story is if your battery from HD is less than 6 months old and craps out then it is a free replacement. Had I waited another month then it would be some pro-rated amount and not a free replacement. Only reason this happened is because the freakish warm weather this winter allowed me to ride in January.

Voltage regulator. May want to wire in a gage and led meter.

I've already given my bike the Mosfet treatment. Pretty sure it was just a bad battery. Of course, if it shells this battery then it will have to be closely looked at. Before the Mosfet regulator it was eating headlights and that has stopped. I've put a multimeter to the battery while the bike runs many-many times and it is never more than in the 14 volt range.

Hopefully just a bad battery.

Spend the $45 on a Kuryakyn voltmeter and wire it in. Best way to keep an eye on operating voltages...and you can catch spikes / drops as they happen, while you ride.

The meter saved me when my 77 died (caught it in time, no other component damage), and again when the VR died (25k later, again - no other damage). I've gone MOSFET and the gauge is rock solid...but I like having the gauge, just as an active reassurance.

Firstbuell,
Here is my install of the Mosfet. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/142 838/745267.html?1406570679#POST2428017

There is many ways to attach and that is up to the person doing it. If I did it again, I'd just drill and tap two holes into the ULY frame bracket that can be seen in the last photo of the link I gave you above. I even explain it in the post. It certainly would be the cleanest and fastest way to mount the R/R. I installed one on my 06 and one on my son's 07. Both of our original regulators went bad.
