Hey after discovering the existence of this bike a few days ago (and sitting on one today) I have fallen in love. Finally a sport-ish bike for someone as tall as me. Anyway, enough with my emotion.

There are very few of these for sale in my province and thus I really can't gauge what they are worth, especially since they aren't made any more. I was taking a look at this 2008. After considering all the extras, what do you think of the value there?

Here's another one to check out and give feedback on (this is the one I sat on, comes with 3 piece luggage):

Thanks in advance, hoping to hone in and pick one up for the 2015 season!

If this was in the US and USD prices, I'd say both were overpriced. That said, I'm not sure what they are worth in the great white north, due to their rarity.

In general I recommend getting a 08+ model. There were significant changes to the bikes for 08, and they are worth it over the older models.

I agree with Froggy on the 08+. The one you have listed looks like a good deal with the hard cases and extras.

Agree with Froggy on this one. I bought a used 08 with 8500 miles on it for 5800 USD three years ago.

Yeah I'm not quite sure on their worth either haha. I read up a bit on the changes throughout the years, 08 seems to be where a lot happened so I'll stick with that, thanks!

The 08 I linked to would be about 6000 USD after the conversion and about 12500 miles. That being said, I would expect a bit of an uplift for being in Canada (where bikes are more scarce in general), especially in my area where the average income/cost of living is considerably higher.

Just wanted to get a feel if that 08 was a good deal as is or if I should try and talk him down a bit. I know luggage is fairly expensive and with the other bonuses, it's hard to gauge whether $7k should be firm or not.

$6k for a low millage 08 would be a fair deal (IMHO), especially if it has luggage and you don't have to cross the country for it.

I have an 07, and personally I think the 08 and up oiling system is worth an extra $1000 easily. Lots of 07's will go 100k miles fine, but enough have had issues that $1000 is probably a good insurance policy.

That being said, if you find a pre 08 for $4000, buy it, and ride it until it blows up, then part it out for $1000 or so. It isn't hard to get $3k of fun out of a Uly.

Yeah, I'd try to bring him down a thousand on the '08 model.

Reepicheep, I figure about $200.00 worth of fun on every ride over 1/2 hr.. I believe I've paid mine off many times over!

Don't worry too much if you don't "bring him down a thousand". Just go for a 2 1/2 hour ride. (using Woodnbow's equation)

if sitting on the bike made you smile..wait till you get the grin when you crank on the throttle. What does it cost to keep a woman around for a year or two? I'll bet you'll have just as much or more fun on the Ulysses.

$7000 Canadian is about £3850 UKP. With what the bike comes with and its mileage it would be a very fair price in the UK. As long, of course, as it is in good condition which it looks like it is as best I can tell from the pics. It does look VERY clean though.

Distance from it is a problem and will add to the cost. Also you MUST BE SURE of what you are getting into with this bike IE Most problems you will have to fix yourself. Most are not an issue if you can fix bikes/ cars and with the help of Guys on this site.

Arry understands...

As far as 'value' is concerned it's an incredibly undervalued motorcycle compared to others in it's class.
