Hey Ray. I was out on Wednesday too. Late afternoon I took a ride out through Portersville, down to Zelie, and then back to Ellwood. Got the bike covered in muck though. The roads were still wet from the rain earlier in the day. If it gets into the 50s and is dry then I'll probably head out again today or tomorrow.

Actually I may change the oil from 20w50 to 10w40 this afternoon to take advantage of any more unseasonable days we have between now and april. Probably won't change the filter though since I doubt I'll put any real mileage on it and I fully intend to strip stuff down and do real maintenance in the spring anyway.

Actually I need to cut another hole in the underside of my seat. NewCastle HD only cut the space for the higher ECU plug and I noticed yesterday that it's firmly resting on the lower plug too now, with a nice bright rub mark where it hits.

Cutting holes in your seat and/or using the standoff block isn't going to help. I'm convinced part of the issue is a heat-flexing front mount and rigid rear mount contribute to the ECM flexing after time which stresses the board inside, I have a curved original '06 ECM to prove it. Moving it is the answer.

You guys have a safe ride!

@Fotoguzzi: No photos...It's pretty simple since I can see exactly where the other plug is now rubbing...unless you are asking for the photos as a tutorial for doing the mod?

The ECU reloc is more than I want to deal with right now, so I'll poke more holes in the bottom of the seat, and if it still is problematic...THEN I'll look at the reloc.

I really wanna ride, but it's only in the 30s here right now.

@Rayycc1: you may or may not get a text from me today or tomorrow. I won't decide what to do until it warms up a bit out there, at least till this afternoon.

I relocated my ECU by just unbolting it, wrapping it in a clean rag, and setting it on the inner fender, under the wiring harness. It has been fine in that location for three years and the cracks have not progressed any further.

It took about ten minutes.

don't need the pics then.. I sort of relocated but was not able to get it in the spot off the top of the shock, just dropped it down a little in front of the battery.. seems OK but I need something to worry about..
we don't have any snow right now but it's too cold to ride in Mpls.. we had 10" but it rained and melted.
Guys, have nice rides.. Icycle derby is coming up on NY day but I'll probably keep the Uly garaged.

And an old Honda Trail 90! Took my first DMV motorcycle test on one. They asked me to do a figure 8 in the parking lot so I put it to full lock around and full lock the other way and I stopped. The guy says, "You've got the whole parking lot!" I was competing in Observed trials back then. Sorry, just got flashbacks after seeing it!

Yep, my Dad bought for me in 1972 when I was 18yo.. He thought motorcycles were just a passing fancy and it would help get it out of my system, boy were they wrong!

me and wife in No Mn,

the second one I bought from my uncle, same year etc..

It's good for the Icycle derby!

My father and I were riding down a local highway when we saw these guys on Snortin Nortons and Trumpets and Beezers trying to climb these really steep dirt hills. They even were stopping traffic long enough to shoot across to get a better run at it. We had pulled over to the side to watch them. There were 3 trails. The first didn't look like anybody had made it up yet. The second had only a few grooves going all the way up and the third looked like it had been climbed the most although they were still having trouble getting up it.
When there was a pause Dad reached down and put the Trail 90 in low range, fired it up and told me to hang on. He hit the easiest one in third gear and we went right up it, no problem! The look on their faces was priceless and Dad never looked back. He just followed the trail back to the road and we continued on.
I told you I was having flashbacks!

I still have my 86 ty350 Yamaha. It's a monoshock so it won't work for vintage. I sold my ty250 to a guy who wanted to ride vintage class. My problem is my legs are so long compared to my body that I really never feel balanced on the trials bike. I always rode my enduro bike in the enduro class. I haven't competed in many moons but still like to go jump a log once in a while!

We had 62 degrees here Friday and my brother and I were in the hospital waiting to get a room for our Mother. Her back had a pinched nerve and she couldn't get off the couch. Took four hours to see a doctor. So by the time we got home it was dark. But hey, got to take care of Mom first! I'm glad everybody else got to have a Winter reprieve!!

That was great to see! When I was competing we were not allowed to stop forward motion. Now they stop, hop, go backwards, whatever they want! It would have been nice to bounce off a rock and back up so you could complete a turn but that was 5 points back in the day!
Nice video!

Well even I got my Uly out yesterday! Got in twenty five miles before it started raining. I was close to home without my rain gear so I humped it in before I got drenched. Felt great though.

My first ride on any bike was on my neighbor's 1966 trail 90. A couch pillow on that wide square luggage rack hardly even hurt my legs!

Hey Greg.....I still have my '86 Honda XL 250(my third of those). I tried trials bikes back in the day also. They just did not seem suitable for a six foot tall rider over 200 pounds. I did the enduro class stuff too.

Sorry to hear about your mom. It seems they will do anything to get you to spend the day with them

You might be right!! Just heard from her, they did an MRI yesterday but have to wait for Monday for somebody to read it. Just hope they can fix it instead of just pain management.

I still have my 86 IT200 Yamaha. Never found a reason to get rid of it! It only failed to climb a hill when I was in Jawbone canyon near Mojave California. It went from deep sand to hard pack 2/3's of the way up and it was STEEP! Just needed more power!!

Oh, my first shifter bike was a 69 Honda cl90 scrambler : )
re ty350... might drop your pegs and do ATV bars on your TY? ITSA has a class for the TY n vintage mono...air cooled monos...
good club.
i'm 5 11 1/2 with a 32" inseam & way too heavy at 270. i have dropped my pegs and set em back on my reflex - helped ergos a lot - traction too... gonna do an ATV bar for a better fit still - my 6" renthals find me having to tilt my head back a bit too much...
Get well soon mom!

Thanks Paul. I picked her up yesterday after they got the inflamation down. She was able to walk, although carefully. So all is good for now.

Temps are back in the deep freeze again so I just look at the bikes as I get in the car!
