have a higher load capacity than an '06 XB12Ss?

Is it just the suspension?

I'm swapping out my Ss subframe, pegs, brakeline, tail section, etc. with Uly parts for more room/comfort for my wife riding pillion.

We're well within the carrying capacity of the stock Ss but I want to add aluminum panniers which weigh ~12lbs ea and when fully loaded won't leave much margin.

I'm primarily concerned with the rear since this is where most of the weight will be added.

Can I just replace the stock Ss shock & spring w/a unit from a Uly and call it good?

Thanks!
Nels
