Hope it doesn't end up on the AX. Interesting device but never was of much use to me. Always having to either put it up or down depending on the situation. Up to take the seat off and down to be able to open the tour pack. I rarely ride two up because my wife has her own bike. Rather it wasn't there. | ||

Well, it's one of the features that I like; I run the beaver tail in all positions. Usually in the back rest position. And, it's particularly useful as a helmet holder. | ||

I love it on my Uly, though I would welcome a "rev 2" version. A little stronger, and with a release mechanism that doesn't require the key and that fiddly little clip retainer. | ||

now that you mention it.. it is kind of a pain to have to move it to get the seat off.. I never go 2up so it's never up and have tail box rack so it can't go to the back position.. sometimes it make a nice flat spot to secure cargo.. do you loose the grab handles too if removed? | ||

If you remove the locking mechanism from the tail, the pain in the ass factor goes down to near zero, as the tail can be adjusted up and down without inserting a key or other object into the release slot. That said, a total beaver tail delete is not hard if you really don't want it, saves quite a bit of weight too. | ||

I'd trade the beaver tail (which the wife loves btw) for a center stand any day of the week! Can always use a removable top case as a backrest when riding 2-up! | ||

A centre stand would be good. I always used mine on my KTM 950 Adventure. | ||

I'd trade the beaver tail (which the wife loves btw) for a center stand any day of the week! Can always use a removable top case as a backrest when riding 2-up! Too limited a market for making a center stand now. It would have been a very simple matter of welding one up to the stock exhaust can. | ||

Buell had a backpack with a padded laptop section that fits over the beaver tail and snaps at the bottom. It's handy. I use one to commute to work on the XT. | ||

I have that little $70 Buell gel zip fit back pad for passengers on mine. It was on there when I bought the bike. My passengers have stated that they really like it. I have not spent any time on the pillon position myself so I am going by what I have been told, my normal size to larger passengers have stated that it would not be a comfy ride without the beaver tail there. My smaller passengers would not ever know though, as they never slide back that far. | ||

I guess mine is screwed up. I have never had to use my key to move it. I just slide the plastic keeper out of the way and it slides to the side and moves. I'll just consider myself lucky and leave it. I do use the slots in it for straps. I picked up a set of straps from HelenTwoWheels and put them on and they work great with her bags and anything else that needs strapped down. I could even strap down cases of beer if they didn't fit in the saddle bags so well!! |
