Replacing the low seat on my 09 XT with the tall seat from an 06 was a big improvement but there must be something better for long distance riding. I've had a couple of Corbin seats on other bikes that I've been happy with. Is Corbin the way to go or are there other more comfortable seats out there for the Ulysses?

I use an Alaska Sheepskin cover on my tall seat. Helps a lot. On one long trip (1050 miles in one shot) I also had one of those beaded seat covers. I'd switch up between no cover, the sheepskin and the beaded cover at each fuel stop. Didn't completely eliminate discomfort but it shifted it around to different areas.

I have a Corbin seat on my Royal Star Venture. It's pretty comfortable. A bit on the hard side, so it doesn't feel very plush to begin with but it's support doesn't go away with time like a too soft seat can. The most comfortable seat I've ever had was Rick Mayer I had on my old PC800.

A year or so ago I bought a Rick Mayer seat for my 2006 ULY off this site's classified section. There is some info and photos in the attached thread. That is not mine BTW.

I do like the seat a lot. They are pricey but in my opinion worth it.

I bought a wooden bead seat cover from my local auto parts store, stripped the beads, and rebuilt it to be the right size for a Uly seat. I think it helps, and it comes off and fits in a side bag when you don't need it.

I did an 800+ mile day on it once, and only felt like I was going to die (instead of actually dying, like I would have on the stock seat, or going on a murder spree, like I would have with the 9sx seat). FWIW. ; )

I had one of my seats rebuilt by Loren at Baldwin Saddles. He did an excellent job, new foam made to fit me with a new cover for $400.00. The new seat is great, 4-500 mile days are no problem now.

I did 900 miles (a personal one-day motorcycle mileage record) last year on the stock Uly seat... I am in my 50's and over 280 lbs.

I think it's hard to improve on stock.

What clothing, including underwear, you wear makes a huge difference in my opinion. Also I have my seat-pan coated in reflective Walmart heat-tape to try to alleviate excessive heat transfer from the rear cylinder to the rear end.

Yes and I have a relatively meatless ass... my seat bones are covered by a very thin layer of skin and sinew. LOL!

I've had no problems with heat at all but Loren gave me synthetic butt fat with that seat and it makes all the difference in the world!

Google Terry Adcox. He does not have a website, but has lots of reviews and praise throughout several forums. I'll be sending him my Uly seat soon.

Guzzidad,

OK...here's my 2 cents. I found the best option for my XT to be the '06 tall seat with padded bicycle shorts underneath my riding pants. "Old indian trick" as my dad would say.

Having said that, a used Corbin seat would be a good option for longer rides.

I forgot to mention ... I also have the '06 tall seat installed on my '07.
