So finding a cheap Uly seems to be a little harder find than a long lightning or any other XB in my area

Question is, can you just bolt on Uly forks onto a different XB model? I know the rake angles are different and would that be the kicker? Is the rake angle in the frame or the triples?

Being 6'5", I really need the taller bike and the more stretched riding position coming from a regular XB12s. Do the sS have the same dropped pegs from the factory?

What would be the easiest way to build a bike like this?

And what about a XBr? I know you could put the sS tail on it, but what about the forks? Reason I ask I found a salvage title one nearish me.

Thanks guys!

I've tried the search a bunch and it's a bit cumbersome to use.

Fork diameter is what relates to the trees.

If you're that intent on putting something together...get Uly trees, forks, and rear shock, and stick them on a Lightning Ss or STT.

But...it seems like overkill to me. I'm 6'4". 34" inseam, half-metal rebuilt arthritic legs, size 13 shoes. I can just as easily ride 1,000 miles a day on my 06 UlyX, as I can on my 09 1125CR with factory clubman bars.

The only changes I've made to my CR, are Uly pegs (1" drop from stock CR pegs), and a Buell touring seat (1" rise from stock CR seat).

I'd RIDE a late Ss (09-up had the taller suspension), or an STT, before getting into swapping all this stuff around.

And keep in mind...the ONLY thing you're changing by swapping forks/shock, is the height from the chassis to the ground. You are doing NOTHING for rider positioning. Your seat/peg/bar position...is exactly the same, just further from the ground. And if your feet are on the pegs...that doesn't make a lick of difference.

The SS and STT use the same frame and trees as the 06/07 Ulysses. 06/07 forks would just drop right in should you need the extra height, same with the Ulysses shock. Doing those on a Firebolt or short Lightning would be more involved as they don't share as many components, and due to differences in the frame the Uly/SS trees would not work (could use standard lightning trees).

Both the SS and Uly use 1" drop pegs, but the Uly has different peg mounts that add about 2 more inches of drop. The bike you linked is running Lightning pegs on Lightning peg mounts.

To be blunt, it is a -ton more work than a SS or STT, and you are going to make more compromises.

I sold my '06 Ss Uly last year. It had '08 Uly trees, forks, shock, kick stand, peg mounts, brake lines and a Uly front beak/ lower fender setup. And later on custom made Uly side bag mounts.

I'm not quite as tall as Ratbuell, but my legs are a bit longer. While I do have a bit of titanium, I'm not too creaky just yet. The only layout change that I've made to my '08X is a set of Precision Engineering's dropped foot pegs. All day perfect.
