I've a few T27s missing here and there - on the chin spoiler and the mudguard. What's the precise spec of those and what suitable alternatives would be good?

I believe most of those are standard 1/4-20 ( 1/4'Diameter-20 threads per inch), any hardware store, various heads -- phillips, allen, straight slot...

Arry is correct. 1/4-20

Except they are shoulder screws.
I've looked for cheaper replacements for the standard shoulder screws, with no luck.
Sleeves or collars could be made easy enough, if you have a lathe.

I was going to recommend a place to get them, so I checked and damn the price is stupid high now.

Don't forget you need them to be of stainless.

It is not that big a deal to go milk the cow for them(HD parts), for as few as you need.

Ya might want to check where ever you get them.....often buying one at a time can cost as much as a bag of ten.

I did look for replacements one upon a time however it does not match any standard Shoulder Bolts that I have been able to find. I believe they are purpose built for the application.

I got a bag of them from Al a few years ago. I don't now if he still sells them though.

The problem is they are not standard dimensions thus not available through normal fastener sources. They must be a Buell custom design.

Agree!
I've been looking, again, since this thread started.
The best we can do, without knowing the actual OEM supplier, is to use spacers like these:
http://www.aluminumspacers.com/as31-14-10.html
20 of the above would cost me $20 shipped to my door.

With a truss head stainless steel screw 1/4-20 x 3/4" length and shorten them 1/8".
http://www.grainger.com/product/6LE38?gclid=CNOOpa LepMACFYNsfgodAX0Anw&cm_mmc=PPC:GooglePLA-_-Fasten ers-_-Screws-_-6LE38&ci_src=17588969&ci_sku=6LE38& ef_id=U95WvwAABBxJIacJ:20140821160539:s
There is a Graingers in town so I can avoid shipping cost.
For 20 of these it would be about $25 with CA sales tax.

So it would cost about (me) $45 for 20 sets.
Plus the hassle of managing the collars during assembly, etc...

At $4 a piece for the real Mc Coy. One has to reconcile whether it's worth the hassle of multiple orders and some hand work for the savings.

In 8 years I've only had to replace 2 of these shoulder screws....

This is what I did. Worth it to have just what I needed.

Related question: does anyone have a part number for the long, "gas tank" cover shoulder bolts?

From the link above: CA0012.02A8
Should be a part number for a bag of 5 pieces @ $12.00.
That is a deal!

The plastic washers are not included.

Called local HD dealer the screws sell for $3 apiece.
The pn above is for a bag of 5.
He said because they are Buell parts, I would have to buy all 5.

I have been using the non-shouldered truss head screws with vinyl washers for 18K with no ill effects. It makes reassembly after service easier than using the shouldered screws. 3/4" screws work for all the body work without trimming so far.

Interesting.
Care to share the vinyl washer info?

I lost a couple on my chin fairing and changed them all out for non shouldered ss buttonhead allens. I back them with a ss washer. A drop of blue locktite and your good to go.

Don't do that with the translucid plastics, they are a lot more likely to break and fracture. The solid color plastics are pretty tough though.

Those little nylon washers are readily available at your local lowesdepot.
Bring in an example and you will find them easily.
