just noticed oil under the case after a week of vacation (1,000 miles)
Should I worry?
I have another trip tomorrow morning maybe 600 or so miles.

near primary case drain plug but not from it and it's tight.
any input appreciated.

actually it looks like from the other side of motor (right) drip looks like it's running over the engine # from the area of the front sprocket so it must be motor oil but I have not seen much if any lower level of oil.

Can you determine if it's motor oil or from the case?
If case, then it could be the starter motor. My piņon gear seal went out - twice - filled the starter with primary oil, which seeped out where it meets the case. Looked just like that.
If you have a flashlight shine it into where the starter motor meets the case (right side). If there is a puddle of oil hanging around in there then that could be the culprit.
I'd also get your allen set out and make sure the case bolts are all equally snug, especially the one running on the underside of the case.
Could also be the tranny breather tube, though that looks like more oil than the breather tube would push out.
I'd hit the car wash and clean it up with some pressure so you can see where it's coming from. Check your motor oil every few fill-ups. If it's not really dripping, then I would just drive the 600 miles and check the case when I arrived. Drain and fill with a quart of whatever cheap heavy oil you can get in there. Takes 5 minutes. If you get close to a quart out then it's not the case. Look for motor oil leaks.

Clean it and let it dry. Spray with talcum powder or a foot spray and let it dry. Take a short ride. The powder will hold the oil long enough to see where it's coming from.

My bet is starter gasket. Mine's been doing it for...oh...quite a while. It's primary fluid. Keep an eye on your levels and your shifting ability, and just ride it : )

My guess would be starter gasket also. I did one recently that was more an issue of the starter just needing to be tightened up. A matter of removing the primary cover to access the bolts.

Back in the day, the leak repair spec for military vehicles (dead line) was 7 drops per minute.
You are probably ok.
